 Wide Faced Mutt
Don't know how exactly this happened, but the hiatus is over and it's back for Season Four of Stargate Atlantis!
First off you are going to love the new wardrobe. The uniforms are cool as all hell and they've even got us sporting serious leather jackets for our off-world missions. Saving the universe has never looked so good!
Tonight the cast are all getting together in Vancouver for a dinner with the producers. This is one of the great Stargate traditions. Before we dive back into a new season we all get to catch up over dinner and talk about everything except Stargate. For example, I will use the time to grill Jason about his new girlfriend and his new tattoo... if he's had enough to drink, I will probably get hurt for it ;-)
Wednesday morning we've got a readthrough (something we've never actually done before on Atlantis) for "Doppelganger" . Notice the timing? I would say, unfortunate, given that the night before may involved a glass or ten. I plan on sitting accross from a few bleary eyed actors that morning! I will be sure to speak loudly and bang around as much as I can in order to make Rachel's hang-over that much more miserable (I'm not saying she's going to drink too much, I'm just saying... never the last to leave, that's all... sorry Rach, couldn't resist it!
Kate is coming to town tomorrow for some rest and relaxation and a fair bit of writing I think. I told her that she's not welcome and that her timing sucks and that she should stick to her own kind, in her own city. She's coming anyway. What can you do? Looking forward to having some time to hang out with her... oh yeah! I won't because I go back to work the day she arrives...nice one Kate!?
I meant to do a wrap up on our Horrible Holiday's, but I'm not sure I've got the time to do it justice. Suffice it to say that the screenings were fantastic! Friends, family I haven't seen for ten years or more and so many of your happy laughing faces made for a movie premiere to die for! Which I was doing at the time, by the way. Sick as a dog for almost three weeks straight with a great bout of food poisoning the day before the actual screening! That made the convention a bit of an effort, but again, friends, family and the most pleasant gaggle of Stargaters one could wish for. Many thanks to you all for your support, your presents, cards, letters, snacks (stop with the snacks! I'm the size of a house!) and your funny, witty, heart-felt and snarkastic conversation... and of course the lovely squirrels! The event was a huge success and I think we even managed to raise a chunk of change for a few worthy causes! Looking forward to doing it again soon. Thanks so much to Brian and all of his incredible support team, you are a classy bunch!
Jane and I are flying down to San Jose on Saturday morning to be a part of the San Jose (strange coincidence) Cinequest film festival. We're going to be screening "A Dog's Breakfast" and I believe that there are still tickets available if you want to see the film in a cool festival setting and watch Jane and I schmooze it up like only rabid schmooze weasels schmooze... or snooze if it's been a long shoot on Friday. I'm really looking forward to having a screening that Jane and I aren't responsible for! It's like we've been invited to a party, finally, after having to throw them ourselves every time! It will be nice to have a non-stressful time with the lovely Jane, I must say... almost like holiday ;-) Please make sure that you let anyone you can know about the screenings! I have sent messages to a few MySpacers that are in the San Jose area (or at university there) and have an interest in film, or have movies in their profile that seem appropriate. I'm hoping that they're not going to think I'm spamming them. If you have any friends or come across any MySpacers that might fit in, perhaps you can let them know about the Cinequest screenings? I REALLY don't want to bug people though. If you're going to do this, then please just let them know why you think they're right for your message and why you think they'll like the film... PLEASE NO RANDOM CUT AND PASTED PROMOTIONS... we want to interest people, not irritate them... If they want to be irritated they can watch McKay on Stargate!
Now a few Rumor Kills...
First off, yes I am a part of Sanctuary, but no I am not a regular or a recurring character. I had the pleasure of playing, what I would call a cameo (others would call it a bit part) as a nasty serial killer with a bad attitude. Kavan was there with me and he makes a great hard nose cop (really, he has a very hard nose) It's two scenes and is NOT several episodes as has been reported elsewhere (it's not their fault, they were just a little quick on counting me in without counting on my schedule... as Bob Hope said "if I had my life to live again, I wouldn't have time to do it"). The next kill is that we have screenings set up for Australia and New Zealand at the end of the year. We're hoping to, but people are saying that they're officially scheduled for Sidney, which isn't even on the convention tour right now! If you want the truth, it's NOT out there, it's here...not as catchy as the X-Files, but I'm working on it!
Having finished the latest draft of "Starcrossed" and had NBC/Universal send it on to SciFi for their comments, I've started working on the next film...yipee! It's really slow going (because I'm slow, if you must know!), but Jane has had some great ideas and we've hammered out concepts for a couple of fun features to write and work on and try and get up and running for next hiatus!
Peace, love and McKay!
D!
