I’m currently developing a show with MGM that is (very loosely) an earth-based science fiction Midnight Run with aliens. I’m calling it “Judas Run” for the moment...though the contract has it down under the catchy little number “The Untitled David Hewlett Sci Fi Project” (so maybe I should stick with that!) I am currently writing the script for the DVD/TV movie that I would star in. If it does well, the movie would serve as a pilot for an on-going series in which I would star and executive produce. That said, after months of negotiations and pages of legal weasel speak, we’re ready to go! That is, I’ve been told that official commencement is a mere few days away and that I’ll be given to go-ahead to actually start writing the script...something I’m not supposed to have started yet...but I have, of course...so don’t tell anyone!

Inspiration for this is coming from these:

I haven't seen Midnight Run so now I'm curious and will have to rent it! smilies/grin.gif From what you have said about your version, it sounds interesting and I can't wait to see it. I hope you get a TV series from it. Any chance of Flanigan, McGillian or other's from Stargate being in it?

Although all your current projects sound exciting - this is the one I really, really can't wait to see. I love the original and with your spin, it could be hilarious and nail biting edgy. So glad you've got the go ahead and that you've already started the script - S'Okay, won't tell anyone, you can trust me.

Really, can't wait to see this so I hope it's everything you envisage... If I win the lottery I'll be in touch to ensure this film jumps the cue and is everything it should be because the idea is genius!

PS: Love the name Judas Run.... although the more I think about it the more I'm liking 'The Untitled David Hewlett SciFi Project'. I keep thinking of Tales of the unexpected, LOL.

(Although don't you mean syfy project **rolls eyes at their idiocy and smirks**)

I keep wondering what the lead character will be like. One of the main factors of the original was the leads endearing softness, an almost eccentric kindness and unwillingness to hurt a fly.... and sharp as razor brains.

I don't know how close to the original you will fly. I figure if aliens are involved then the lead would probably have to be a believable nutcase, presuming that the fed with him doesn't believe the alien story to start with. Now my mind is wandering - so many permutations.

Just can't wait. Love the name. Hurry up. LOL.

Sounds like an interesting project! I'm just in shock that anybody besides me remembers "The Tomorrow People." When the early version of the show was being broadcast on cable TV in the US I'd take babysitting jobs in hopes of getting to watch it on other people's cable (we didn't have it). Haven't thought of that show in years!
