Oh dear!

I've been macheting my way through the jungles of spam that have crawled into even the most private corners of dGeek.com...which leads me to a rather humbling confession...

In my eagerness to squash this onslaught, I have managed to delete all users that have .ru anywhere in their name, email and/or possibly everywhere else!...so maybe less of a machete and more of a nuke.

Obviously, I'm very sorry for this ".ru Armageddon" and would ask that anyone who finds themselves unable to login to the site due to my preemptive stupidity please re-register.  I shall try to get them setup again as quickly as possible.  I had assumed that there might be some collateral damage in my all out war on dGeek spam, but I didn't think I'd take out Russia!?

Again, my apologies...I'm sure you're a lovely place and I'd really like to visit you sometime if you get over this little misunderstanding ;-)

I saw the number of members decreasing during the last hours and that you got rid of about 1500 members. How many to come?
As in: Hell, how many (spam-)bots do we have on here? And how many of the users are actually human?
Or would it be best to close and seal dgeek to become the wold's first "virtual museum of spam: We got them all"?

I'm glad I'm not the only one that found this hilarious. At least their deletion wasn't permanent. You could have just ended up blocking the entire country which would have been worse ..
