The whole point of the great Digg.com incident of '07 was that I felt we needed to expand our marketing efforts to the poor unsuspecting world outside of Stargate. (I know, it's hard to believe that there are those among us that don't live and breathe our rarefied air!).
I'm going to try and start posting about "A Dog's Breakfast" and "Starcrossed" on websites and online communities outside of the comfort zone of "Stargate". I'll be looking for pet, movie making, entertainment and Internet related sites. Any forums, comments or sites that provide submission services seem like fair game. As long as I (we?) keep the postings informative and avoid being aggressively self-promoting. The point is I'm not looking to spam poor unsuspecting non-nerds. My rule of thumb (which judging by the Digg.com response isn't always 100%) is to read the site for a while to get a feel for what sort of things people are interested in and then post accordingly. (with Digg.com I read a really inspiring article about the guy who created Digg.com for $200. Since I enjoyed that, I thought I'd share our promotional campaign with them using the same approach) For Internet related websites I've been pitching the "Open Source" approach to the web design and community building. For pets I like to tell the tale of Mars' rescue from the pound and how he clawed his way to Hollywood stardom. Movie-making and entertainment can be a combination of how we made the movie without breaking the bank, as well as our perspective on the various aspects of indie film - especially how you wonder-squirrels got the ball rolling and helped to snowball things into real wheeling and dealing!
If you fancy doing the same, and end up posting something yourself, let us know on the Squirrel Marketing forum so we can all check it out!
Screening-wise, "A Dog's Breakfast" is lined up for its first festival screening at the beginning of March (don't want to scoop the poor festival but I've heard great things about Cinequest…I'm just saying!). That should be happening just after I get back to work at Atlantis (have I stopped working?). We're also planning on putting together a screening or two in Vancouver to coincide with the Creation convention (also in March, I believe?). By continuing to schedule screenings around convention weekends we hope we can save some of you a little air fare, gas, air-balloon, or dog-sled costs.
The "Starcrossed" pilot episode has been written! We sent the draft to NBC/Universal today in fact. They'll get their chance to give notes before the network (that's Hollywood speak for SciFi, kids!) gets it at the end of next week - probably just before our screening, in case anyone thought I might be lounging around pubs while I'm in London! So, it's notes time from here until the end of February, then it's the nail-biting fun of waiting to find out if we're producing a series or not ;-)
Rumors of more intimate McKay/Whale activities and a March 1st start date! Can't wait to get back to work again, so I can "relax"! That and I'm sure that Flanigan is missing me madly!
I've just bought myself a wicked little HD video and stills camera that records directly to flash memory. So in love with this baby I may have to marry it instead of Jane ;-) This could lead to some serious video blogging (no promises, but it's something I'd love to play with)! And it's definitely going to get some great behind-the-scenes stuff on Atlantis this year. I imagine I'll be driving everyone crazy with it all! Those of you going to the London Wolf Event better look their best as I'm going to documenting everything I can!

Digg v Myspace Written by HyniB on 2007-02-20 09:58:04 Just had a skim through the Digg site and felt like I'm back in the playground! Personally I prefer Myspace - but it's bigger over here in the UK. Uni students seem to be just getting into facebook now though (my brother showed it to me - he's a Quantum and Cosmological Physics student, so it's all his fault I'm on here at all, since he's a bit of a MacKay!). |
Written by Bluegirl on 2007-02-10 12:04:31 Hi! R.e. the looking for websites to market on, why not try bebo? Lots of movies make pages for adertising there! Plus it would mean I could say hi

Sorry you went through all that. Written by Icarus on 2007-02-10 05:32:23 It's really rough in the hot seat. It didn't have a lot to do with you, or ADB. Certain people just enjoy being vicious. It's fun for them. You were just the convenient target at the time, and they're now off mobbing some other poor bastard. Once that type gets involved they completely drown anyone you could actually talk to. Good the squirrels in your corner. Vancouver, eh? That's pretty close.

Written by Captain Peregrine on 2007-02-10 02:18:54 So, yeah, no idea what happened with digg.com, but I'll just agree with what everyone else is saying. :D Oooh, video blogging! And "behind the scenes". Well, if anyone can get me addicted to the internet enough to abandon homework, it would be you, David. Long live the rodent king! |

bwaha. Written by spamco on 2007-02-09 00:13:50 Okay, whenever I randomly choose to come back & read the blog, whenever I see that cereal box, I swear, I serious think that it says GO FOR THE NUTS rather than what it does say. =D |
Written by Ivan on 2007-02-07 08:09:51 Sorry to mistake "Flanigan" |
Pi Written by Ivan on 2007-02-07 08:08:19 Don't worry Mr. Hewlett - I think flanigan on the edge of Madness. Hello for all of Atlantis team from Russia. And "Big Hello" for Kate - she was amazing in Atlantis, You are both realy good team. |
Written by Trialia on 2007-02-06 13:28:41 Just so you know... We love Sam Carter - and Amanda - just not on Atlantis. Having seen First Strike... I've lost most if not all of my passion for this show. Which is very, very depressing. |
woah overreaction! Written by atlantisdreams on 2007-02-04 14:05:10 those digg.com people are completely off their trollies! Can't believe how much they spazzed out. behind the scenes atlantis!*woop* xx |
Written by Erynn on 2007-02-02 01:22:09 I'll be in Vancouver the same weekend as the con, but not at that con. I hang out with the Lone Gunmen fans instead. But if there's a screening, I'll do everything I can to be there, most definitely! To be honest, I've seen MySpace and it really doesn't impress me. It looks cluttered with crap and doesn't seem particularly user-friendly for anyone to actually read blogs there or to navigate. There must be better places to put your attention. Sorry you got strafed over on digg -- some people's kids seem to have the IQ of half an amoeba, and even fewer manners. Mark me down as somebody else who would love to see Paul in Starcrossed! |
shocked!! Written by Usagili24 on 2007-02-01 12:14:17 I'm shocked and quite frankly POed These people don't have to be so rude. I'm at a complete and utter loss for words which is a first for me. I think Hannibal Lecter should eat them for being rude. *is big Hannibal fan, don't ask why even I don't know why just is*. But I'm going to be an adult and just ignore the backwoods people and so should you David. |
WOW! Written by San5000 on 2007-01-31 07:09:09 I decided to go check out all the fuss on Digg because I'd seen you mention it a couple of times...WOW! Do their parents always leave them unsupervised in front of the PC? I would ignore the children if I were you...they'll grow up eventually. Don't let a few trolls dampen your enthusiasm because there are plenty of people of here who are eagerly awaiting the film and are just as excited about it as you *

Vancouver Screening Written by mangoturkey on 2007-01-30 09:11:45 A screening at the covention would be awsome!!! Just think the first Canadian screening A chance to meet Mars would be great and you too of course See ya all there! P.S. vid cams can be deadly |
Grand Slam Written by starleet on 2007-01-30 00:01:20 Cool on all the screenings. How about in April for the Creation Grand Slam in Burbank? It's the 13th thru the 15th and it's usually billed as the SciFi Summit, so any and all that is sci fi are there. That even could include Starcrossed someday. Sweet. |
Written by xfkirsten on 2007-01-29 22:44:21 A Vancouver screening? SWEET! All I can say is, it better be on a Monday or Tuesday so that I can get up there on my days off from work. :P Speaking of work... I work with whales in a zoo, so your comment about getting more McKay/whale love just made my night! That's my absolute favorite plotline of the series so far! :D |
Excellent Written by Paul on 2007-01-29 16:22:39 A Vancouver Screening?? Oh YES! I cant wait. Ill be counting the days. I hope youll be there too so I can meet ya. |
Woah. Written by Linzey on 2007-01-28 23:31:25 Some people have issues; I couldn't believe the surliness of some of the, err, non-newbies on the digg site. Crikey! They need to lay off the coffee and get more sleep, or take up meditation or something. That being said, since I never knew about digg beforehand, they need to chill. Do they want people to join their forum comprised of (it would seem) largely whiners or not? Don't they WANT new members? *sighs* But we know there are snarks out there. I'm just wondering now why McKay snark is so amusing, and other....forms (?) are so bloody eye-roll-worthy? Partly, I think - at least in this case - is the hypocritical attitude that came through in the posts (I don't think they even realize how their site works! ) Enough rambling from me... But...where oh where did you grab that cartoon box from? ha. So perfect. -Linz |
Hum.... Written by ladyc3 on 2007-01-28 14:38:25 Hi David! Sounds like things are moving along...Have fun in London...love to go back.. I admitt I am not very good about roaming the wed...however...I put a copy of the flyer up in my apartment window....putting it back up on my car window and putting it all over my school folders etc... Hum...wonder if they would let me put it up campus? I will check. Constance p.s. I miss LA! |
Written by poppycock on 2007-01-28 13:50:59 Hi Ive never heard of digg it I dont think that its very big in the UK although Facebook isn't and now that site is my life whilst I'm studying in the States. But I think that their comments were pathetic. If they were that bothered why not just ignore it. Anyway I only came on to ask - Why squirrels? Also - Any idea if there will be more screenings in the UK after May (when i get home) or in Vermont while Im still here?? lol. I found out about the film on youtube and I am now getting more and more obsessed with it! I am slowly getting into independant films but I never get a chance to see them. (There aren't that many film festivals in Gateshead!) Which is a shame - maybes I should start one! 'from the hubble beginnnings in a young womans living room...?' Maybes not! hope to see the film at some point - it looks great. Pops xx |
Written by sammy on 2007-01-28 12:26:42 you mean your not just gonna go round the pubs in london? theres apparently a good one near where the screenings taking place (i forget the name). i also got a camera for my birthday. it records straight to dvd and sd cards so im definately gonna be having fun at the convention this comming week! cant wait for it now my tickets have arrived. see you in the comming week! |
Eeep! Written by paxford on 2007-01-28 00:52:19 poot! - just realised how pompous my last comment sounds (I swear it sounded better in my head). I *meant* to also say how considerate you are, in that you don't plan to try the whole "ME ME ME" advertising ploy. It's really refreshing that you want everyone to like your film as much as you like it - but not insist that they do. (I'll go away now - promise!) |
Written by paxford on 2007-01-28 00:47:19 I'm glad you're not planning on "Breakfast B0mbing" websites/LJ's/Blogs (aka the "Passion B0mbs" that flooded the internet just before "The Passion of Christ" came out). Have you considered linking in with a national pet group for advertising (Guide Dogs or Rescue Dogs or whatever local equivilent is) - if you had a "$2 donated per price of ticket" to X charity or Raffle on the night, would it attract minor sponsership deals? Failing that - who do you know on the Cannes Committee? |
Wow... Written by onecheekyhobbit on 2007-01-27 09:59:15 Dude, sorry things didn't go over well on the site. Just remember the people who were forced to see the film and came out pleased. Better luck with the next one. Kamilla |
Written by Fool with the Party Hat on 2007-01-26 17:20:13 I think people would be extremely crazy not to instantly accept ADB into their hearts! My family are at the point of gagging me right now coz I am obessed with it! I find myself walking around saying or giggling about quotes in the trailer...I suppose once you start doing Hewlett-Fu to people someone has to be worried! I am a junkie for all SG1 and SGA extras - they give me a warm fuzzy feeling - Once you have come back from all the s*** that life holds and sit down to watch David-ness in an Atlantis extra or Amanda-ness in a SG1 extra...you have to smile and say "oh well s*** happens!" |
Whoa boy! Written by 11nine73 on 2007-01-26 15:42:39 Easy on the caffine! Of course we broke the Digg site. We break everything, or hadn't you noticed that yet? A mass of squirrels is a weighty thing! lol As for "more intimate McKay/Whale activities" I'm sure I don't want to know! Or is this a veiled reference to Sam Carter joining the Atlantis team? You have a camera? All of a sudden I'm not as keen on coming to London. Helen doesn't do cameras. I suppose if you really have to. But I bet you haven't read the instructions... *giggles* Helen x |
Written by ZoniDuck on 2007-01-26 15:32:29 Ah, so you are doing festivals! Is it too much to hope that you might have submitted for the Phoenix Film Festival? And video blogs, especially of behind-the-scenes stuff on set, sounds like the best idea ever. Note: video of Mars being adorable would also be brilliant. |
Written by Lady of the Lake on 2007-01-26 13:45:45 Well cool. This is my first being in this site before I didn't know what to say. But now I do.People just are mean anywhere not just on the internet but everywhere you go... Then again people are nice like me... video blogging is really cool. Try at you tub or my space I have both and i have my own site that im doing a video blogging with my best friends. Where's my Pay?? Written by esskay on 2007-01-26 13:25:01 If - according to the "real" diggers - I work for MGM, can I just ask you to ask them when my pay cheque will be coming through?? Anyhoo - great to hear you've got an HD camera (is that good?). I'll make sure I'm all frocked up before coming to the screening on Thursday!

Oh please ! Written by GaL on 2007-01-26 12:09:18 Yesss ! Video blogging ! One of your best ideas, genius, I can't wait to see that ! |
Written by Becky S. on 2007-01-26 10:16:18 The Digg site isn't all that bad, just some of the people there are. For me: water and a duck's back. Have fun in London. I'm sure it will be wonderful! You with a camera on the Atlantis set...Things will never be the same, will they? That brings up an idea: Have you thought of having an occational 'guest blog'? Maybe once in a while have a post written by one of your friends (from Atlantis or other projects you have worked on). Since there will be times when you are really, really busy it could fill the time for us and it would be nice to know how Paul and Torri are doing and what they are working on. Just a thought. |
Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy ;-) Written by Usagili24 on 2007-01-26 09:42:52 *chitters in glee* I LOVE video blogs. Hope you get to make lots of Starcrossed. I think Paul should definately be in it. You should definately do Myspace.com it has become very famous, they even put it in an episode of NCIS. HD camera's are sooooooo cool, and I should know I use to sell camera's. |

Paul for Starcrossed Written by Freya on 2007-01-26 07:23:00 Now that Carson was killed of of Atlantis, can he be cast in Starcrossed? I mean he already did that part so well. Who could replace him there? |
Written by rosiewook on 2007-01-26 05:45:02 I am all for video blogging! Please. Torment people; especially on the SGA set. It's amusing. Best of luck with Starcrossed. It is totally worth picking up as a series. The non-SG-fan friends I've shown the clip to have all thought it would make a hilarious series. We'll all keep sending good vibes your way for the show to be picked up. As for our squirrel marketing? Yeah. We need to dial down our enthusiasm just a wee bit. We don't want to create a "Snakes on a Plane" disaster. But we'll keep looking for ways to get the buzz going. |
YOU HAVE TO GET A MYSPACE! Written by Zerocool on 2007-01-26 03:52:14 BTW Even if it means just posting a link to this blog on it! Its more popular in the UK than blogger is for the US... At least I think it is. |
Written by Zerocool on 2007-01-26 03:43:50 wow! an HD camera! I can already hear Jane in the background.. 'hey!!!! Do you know how much weddings cost!!!!!' I recommend spending some time in the quality pubs of our glorious capital if you get a chance hmmmm I dont think Im the most photogentic person in the world but improved no end by my DV cam. glued to my eye... lol me filming you, filming me, filming you....Im sure it will make a great documentary... |
can't wait 2 c adb Written by ForkOfDoom on 2007-01-26 03:09:51 Me and my friend are going to see the film next week and can't wait! three tons of toffee popcorn from c and a at memorial! |
Written by Squonk on 2007-01-26 02:36:17 I don't think you did anything wrong on Digg.com, i think you had it right when you said they're paranoid and mean. I've only ever witnessed such hostility to newbies once before - and i doubt you'll be posting there! Can't wait to see if Starcrossed makes it. Well it's got to - too many people want to see it now! And more Atlantis - Yay! - take loads of footage and post it on here! Y'know, as a sort of reward for us Squirrels. We're all behind you mate - here's looking forward to 1st of Feb!! |
Written by jivefish on 2007-01-26 02:21:05 HAH! You may have an HD cam [lucky bastard you], but I am perfectly content with how I film random videos with my friends...with terrible quality on our digital cameras, thank you very much. The two lines that amused me the most from this whole post... That and I'm sure that Flanigan is missing me madly! Rumors of more intimate McKay/Whale activities and a March 1st start date! You're an odd odd man & you'd think we'd all be used to that by now. |
Written by Damion on 2007-01-26 02:08:05 Alrighty then So you read the forums but won't chat with us in them? :P Just buggin D You're not pushy on the whole movie aspect so don't think we're getting you wrong about your approach I'm hoping I could pop in for one of those screenings in Vancouver, would be nice but it's a days drive away LoL Can I sleep on the set of SGA? {Ask around for me?, I'm not messy} "I'm sure that Flanigan is missing me madly!" Hope you guys bring us another great season! P34c3 D! |
Screening in Vancouver? Written by Dew on 2007-01-26 00:54:43 feigned sigh Well I guess I'll just have to dig harder to find my stupid passport again and drive a couple hours up north. But then I heard it just might be worth the effort. Granted I think they might let me out the US, it's just the getting back in that might be an issue. Stupid governments changing rules n whatnot. |

Kewl Written by Netty on 2007-01-25 23:32:52 Nice to hear from you david. I must say that when i first went on digg.com i didnt really find it interesting. I thought it was very boring but after a while i started digging around(no pun intended) and i actually found some very interesting topics. More Atlantis!Yay! Cant wait. And ADB screenings to come is great news. |
Excitement Abound! Written by Jen the Fangirl on 2007-01-25 23:23:02 I like the digg.com site. It was a great site to get involved in. And your article is brilliant! :D I think ADB and any convention is a win-win situation! I hope you're submitting it to film festivals, too! I could see the film being incorporated over an appreciation or awareness day/week. Sadly, we just missed Squirrel Appreciation Day, which was January 21st. But there are other good days, too, like National Take Your Dog to Work Day (June 22nd), Homeless Animals Day (August 19th), National Dog Week (September 17-23rd), Adopt a Shelter Dog Month (October 1st - 31st), and National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week (November 1st - 7th). I pulled all those days on this website: http://www.allforanimals.com/calendar.htm What about a write-up on Mars's story being sent to a Vancouver paper? Or during the Vancouver SG con, something could be done with the movie and the shelter that Mars was rescued from? What would be really cool is having stories about Squirrels' pets that were rescued, too. For me, the fact that Mars is a rescued animal touched me because two of my animals came from kill shelters and were both close to being put down because they had stayed over their welcome (how that can be I don't understand). And what about doing something with the SPCA? http://www.spca.com/ They are about to conduct a Pet Style contest. Wooo, I need to think more on this, too! :D And now I'm getting ideas for that camera of yours, David! First, what would be cool is if you were do some video diaries, like what Tennant did for Series 2 of Doctor Who. But besides that, what about a film that goes behind the scenes of what it is like to work with Mars and how he is on the set? That would make a charming little vid. I'm thinking lots of good thoughts for you and Jane and everybody. "Starcrossed" is an idea that I don't remember being explored before as a series. It'll be fantastic! McKay/Whale? O.o This isn't a rehash of that one Star Trek movie, is it?
|
Written by Tazmy on 2007-01-25 22:47:26 I'm not sure I want to know of these intimate McKay/Whale activities. LOL! Can't wait for season four...or the rest of three for that matter. |
Can't Wait!! Written by alison_974 on 2007-01-25 22:46:44 I just scanned some of the posts on the Digg site, those people must really have something stuck up their *cough* I'd love to see some video blogging, and of course behind the scenes of Atlantis would be fantastic!! Poor Flanigan, misses his David!!! :P |
Very nice-ya!! Written by Delka on 2007-01-25 22:12:41 "screenings around convention weekends" Hmm, though this squirrel be MORE than willing to travel the east coast to see it. Though you should have a screening a weekend in June in Vancouver (hint, hint). You know just for the fun of it. Can't wait to see how the Feb. screening goes. All those squirrels! And back to "work" (wait-vacation) March 1st? When does the break start? Glad to be a squirrel (may I not fall out of the tree though!) |
Yay! Written by woodsie22 on 2007-01-25 21:38:27 Ooh! Potential screening during the Vancouver con? That'd be awesome (especially since I'll probably blow my travel budget that week)! Oh, and I look forward to seeing any behind-the-scenes (etc) video footage. I always love that kinda stuff - if you want any ideas, there's a great video diary on the latest Doctor Who dvd set (Tennant - Series 2). |
Squirreltastic! Written by Kate28 on 2007-01-25 21:26:53 It's marvellous to see the campaign is gaining such momentum right before our eyes! Let's hope ADB world domination is not too far off! |
Written by nunshavingfun on 2007-01-25 21:24:42 Wow people are just really evil. I mean I should know this from going to school with idiots for 21 years but wow. A PC (or mac!) really gives them the courage to be dicks to people they don't know. All the squirrel references are starting to make me crazy and not in a fun way. I can't go anywhere SG related without being bombarded with nuts. Pun sort of intended. |
Written by Aurora on 2007-01-25 21:06:11 wow, I missed alot in a few days. Figures I get sick and all kinds of crap hits the fan over on digg.com. Written by Nightsister on 2007-01-25 18:36:59 I was thinking before that you've got lots of courage: not only did you try something new (like Digg), but you reported back on the not entirely favorable results. But then I realized that actors probably endure far worse in the course of their careers than anything those mean-spirited pathetic little diggers can dish out. And since you've been in the industry for a looong time (I saw Dark Side, Chuckie!), your skin must be extra thick! Still, you're pretty brave. But you also have a sweet gig (soon to be two!), a cute dog, some fabulous fans, AND a pretty girl. No wonder the diggers are upset! |
A Little bit of This.... Written by MdGateFan on 2007-01-25 18:19:17 It sounds like you are going to one busy little squirrels this year. SGA, Starcorssed and premoting A Dog's Breakfast and getting married? So you are going to be taking pictures of people taking your picture? That could be interesting. And I am sure there are lots of people who would love to see the behind the scenes stuff for Atlantis.

Congrats on the script Written by Jan on 2007-01-25 18:05:26 Script writing, camera testing... you really are the caffeine poster boy, aren't you? And now, I must go off and scrub out my brain with bleach-- the FROOTIES pic did something bad to the ol' visual cortex. |
Written by s_aurius on 2007-01-25 17:47:33 Digg.com was definitely a unique experience tho I must admit I've begun perusing the site inspite of the unfriendly welcome. You know what's funny? Written by casey on 2007-01-25 17:19:19 Well, I found out that the internet is so vast that I can read other people's summaries of on-goings around the Stargate fandom. I mean, just the other day, I read a summary of Joe Mallozzi's blog! Imagine that. I didn't know about the Digg thingy - but I got the summary of it... I think it was easier than following all the comments. I don't know anything about Digg actually but I'd just assumed it was no different from youtube. Congrats on the scrip, looking forward to seeing you next week (con) and ha! no more holiday!!! I'm off to London next week and will be in Europe for the whole of Feb myself. |
Written by Red Phoniex on 2007-01-25 16:58:17 don't worry about the digg people. they're just mean sad lonely people. So glad everything is working out. McKay/whales - so cool!!! Really enjoyed echoes and i know alot of people who would love to see them comeback. Can't wait for London! Bring your camera, it'll be cool. C ya soon Red Phoniex Sarah Hardy |
Rock on! Written by mmcleary on 2007-01-25 16:41:42 I will spread the word on MySpace. I hadn't thought of that yet! ...and yeah, some of those digg.com folks need to have a milk and cookie break to lighten their disposition. Mary |
Oh, btw... Written by Night Spring on 2007-01-25 16:19:23 McKay may be paranoid and jaded, but he's not mean! In fact, he's a real softie at heart! As *you* should well know! :D |
Wooohooo! Written by Shawna on 2007-01-25 16:16:18 Vancouver screening! Yes! I likely won't be able to attend the con (dang those things are expensive), but I should be in the area anyway, so I should be able to make a screening. So excited. By the way, I showed my cousin-in-law this site, and even though she thinks I'm a bit nuts for being so active on it (she shook her head sadly at my post count...and she calls herself a computer nerd), I tried to convince her she should join. She thinks you're a decent actor, but it's Mars she's a big fan of. Just can't get over his cuteness. I may yet convince her to join the squirrels (even though the fact that we've got a name makes her think I've joined a cult). Can't wait to hear how Starcrossed goes. I really hope "the man" likes the script, as I'm super-excited to see it. |
Bounces up and down Written by Mercury973 on 2007-01-25 15:57:07 I'll be at the Vancouver Convention! I am SO happy!!! Happy little squirrel! |
Written by sueKay on 2007-01-25 15:49:58 I used to go on digg.com a lot but completely forgot about it until recently lol! HD? I love those cameras! I get the chance to use loads of them in work, but that's only when they can drag me away from the SLRs! Don't own an SLR or camcorder myself, but just bought a hybrid digital camera that I'm looking forward to using! As for marketing locations...There's a MySpace group, a LiveJournal community and a Facebook group. I also started a forum topic at dogster.com which is a good site |
Standing up to be counted Written by watcher652 on 2007-01-25 15:45:27 Some of those digg people are an insular, mean bunch, aren't they? Instead of ignoring an article, they have to blast the fact that it gets posted. Apparently we squirrels are all MGM employees. Whew! That was something, wasn't it? And that's people reading the Entertainment section. Isn't that the one section that's all about marketing? I wrote what I thought was a polite response about the site's purpose and 2 people gave me a negative digg. The site has very few rules but it seems some have taken to make up their own rules and try to impose them on others. The "digital democracy" is a good concept but you have to have a thick skin to participate at the digg site. There are always some who feel obliged to wag their fingers. But, it seems to have gotten your article a lot of views, so that's something! Let's battle on and get this puppy known! (ps: David and a video camera. Which brand? Can't wait to see what you do with it.) (pps: Philadelphia. NYC. I'd like an Northeast US screening, please! I'm just saying.) |
Myspace & Others Written by windshieldbug on 2007-01-25 15:36:24 Alright David, in chat we are already working on Myspace and other places. You know how fast us YIM chatting squirrels are FAST FAST FAST. We are ready for Starcrossed and Atlantis, and pics from you. David.....what kinda questions should we ask screening places if we are trying to get ADB screened? Huh? Huh?

Vancouver Con Written by lemonchicken on 2007-01-25 15:28:02 YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! I was sooooo hoping you'd be saying that soon!!! This is going to be one incredible trip! You've totally made my day - as always - but really, Im thrilled! Frootees? Oookay, where can I get a box ... I'll add it next to my squirrel plushies and rubber duckies once I get them. Lol. And congrats on getting the pilot written! Already! Wow! ... Im using alot of "!" in this post... Speaking of P2 - David Nykl is now joining you all. Please correct him that we are not pirahnas, but crazy squirrels. Secret footage from Atlantis ... oooooo. You must uncover the secret of how Joe gets his hair like that! Natural? Wax? Mousse? Off to think of something very mischievious to promote ADB! |
Written by Night Spring on 2007-01-25 15:13:49 Rumors of more intimate McKay/Whale activities Did you just not-call Amanda Tapping a whale, in the same vein as that hapless Stargate producer who not-called Atlantis fans "shrill, ill-informed lemmings"? Re Starcrossed -- any more details you can share? We are all very excited about the series, but it would help with brainstorming marketing ideas if we knew more about what you envision for it! And will you be acting in it at all, or will you be strictly behind the scenes? And yay for any behind the scene Atlantis stuff you manage to capture with your new camera for the edification of your squirrels! I always thought Joe Flanigan's hair would make a comfy squirrel's nest... |
a fun alternative to nutrition Written by teknikal on 2007-01-25 15:04:24 hahahah just saw the bottom of the box!!!!took me long enough...duh huh!!! |

Great! Written by crazymom on 2007-01-25 14:49:22 I was never remotely interested in how shows and movies are made or how actors work until I started watching the DVD extras and listening to the commentaries for SG-1 and SGA. Now I can't wait to follow the ADB campaign to see how things work. I can just see you tormenting everyone with your new camera! Do your friends come to you with their computer and tech questions? My sister and I were moaning about the fact that our brother is a lawyer instead of something helpful, like a plumber or a carpenter, or a computer geek. What good is a lawyer?? We having a great time vicariously through your postings! |
Cool..... Written by Lady of the Lake on 2007-01-25 14:40:38 web design and community building is what I do the best so here are some good sites if you like to build a site go to http://www.freewebs.com I use that for my site... Well g2g hope that helps... also try You Tub and my space are easy to use as well. |
OMG HEWLETT CAM :eek Written by Wabit on 2007-01-25 14:39:25 *Puts on best smile* So I guess you'll be shoving a camera in our faces at P2 then. Just thought will you be filming the Fancy dress / Sketch's????????????

Written by darklock on 2007-01-25 14:28:40 *boggles* Whoa... deep breath, busy man. 'Sounds like you need more hours in your days. Thank-you for the spectacular update(s), suggestions, and insights. |

Written by crazy4dh on 2007-01-25 14:18:20 Yes, some of us spend our days waiting for your next update. Flannigan isn't the only one who misses you madly. Can't wait to see the rest of Season 3 much less 4. |
Written by SeiyaTheLeaper on 2007-01-25 14:16:43 Ah, that's what I get for not drinking enough coffee... the rest of the comment appeared. So... I'm coming to the screening in London, then it's off to marketing again (it's easier if you've actually SEEN what you're trying to promote!!). Is there any way we can help with Starcrossed? Us Stargate fans have become quite good at writing letters to SciFi. Of course, we probably want to NOT mention the fact that we're Stargate fans... Video blogging?? COOL!!! |
Almost made it Written by crazy4dh on 2007-01-25 14:15:12 I almost made the first post! Rats you beat me Seiya!!! Question where is Cinequest? And can't wait for video blogging. |
Written by SeiyaTheLeaper on 2007-01-25 14:11:29 Wooooo!!! First comment! Yeah, people on the internet can be quite mean... that's because they are comfortably sitting in front of their pc instead of facing the other human being. Oh well... there's also nice people out there! Frootees... do those really exist? Or are you playing with Photoshop now? *LOL* |
