dGeek Room 10
dGeek room 10

Everyone tread softly and carry a big door (at the very least pack a pin-tumbler locking door knob!)

Jane and I sat down to watch a little of The Lost Room on Sci Fi last night. Four hours later and we could have gone forty more with Peter Krause (6 feet under and Sports night…another classic!) and his key to motel room 10. We were powerless! Mars’ legs were crossed and he was scratching at the door, but we didn’t have time to let him out when there was a lost child and a universe to unravel! Forget sleep! Episode two was glaring at us from the Tivo menu, daring us to try and pack it in and go to bed at those ungodly early hours of Wednesday morning… hey, it’s STILL Wednesday?! It’s that damn motel, it’s messing with my brain!? You have to see this show! The first scene with the guy snapping together that little door as if it were some kind of precision rifle …brilliant! It just got better as the minutes ticked by ("sadder" if you’re taking into account our now doomed social life.)

If you have any hope of understanding Jane and I in the future, or any other nerd in the know, then you need to see this show… it's on again tonight, and they're airing the previous two episodes first, so you can catch up... it's like you don't have any free will! Choice is not an option!

How much fun is it to be all grown up and still get to stay up late watching classy, clever and cool TV!

Peace, love and paranoia ;-)

D!

But when are you ever wrong? :p

Us Brits (well those with Sky One) have seen the first four now and I'm hooked! In fact, Sky had a technical promblem in the middle of airing last night and I freaked out. I was fully prepared to meet you in London and have my first question be what happened after Joe found the motel in the desert (possibly even before saying hi, lol)

Fortunately for us both, they sorted it out but whoa it's surreal. What's with the photo? And the guy in the room? Well, don't tell me cos I'll find out next week.

I have to get this on DVD though.

Hugs

I freely admit it, you were right. The Lost Room tonight was just.... great! (And yes, UK viewer so slightly behind the times!) All praise tonight's Sky1 schedule... 8pm: SG:Atlantis (Irresponsible), 9pm: The Lost Room. My family didn't actually move from the room between 8 and 10:50! (This was problematic, since I was meant to be researching a presentation for university, but put those two together, and it was too good to leave!) Now, not only do I have to survive waiting for the next Atlantis ep, but also The Lost Room. :sigh oh well, best get back to the research! Thanks v much for recommending this! (PS university is also why I won't get down to London to see A Dog's Breakfast... when can you bring it to Scotland?! ) :grin

The Lost Room, Sky One at 21:00 on Wednesday 24th January 2007

This was definitely an awesome show- good thing it was only 6 hours and not a full series because I'm watching way too much TV as it is! It's so nice to know that my favorite actor (that would be you, David) is also a sci-fi geek like me :)
I agree
Written by everly_dawn on 2006-12-28 23:21:36
This really is a cool show. The whole idea just kinda made me go.."Like Woah" and I'm not usually prone to such displays of dumbfounded-glee!

I unfortunately didn't get to see all of it. I'll be watching for another showing soon I hope.

Canada rules!
k, had to say that :D
The Lost Room had me at the edge of my seat {Tall tales, I was lying on the floor} and wow...Who woulda thought a set of keys would make a show work! Cudos to the writers, actors, and crew
So Good!

The Lost Room really WAS excellent! I expected it to just be 'okay', but I was drawn in by Peter Krause too - so good!
Good taste man

Lost Room on Sci Fi Tonight 5-9 eastern
Written by knlgwn on 2006-12-17 06:24:02
Hi,
I've been reading the news and forum for a few months, but rarely have time to post. I just wanted to confirm that SciFi will be airing Lost Room tonight and I will give it a try. I have to admitt that I have been annoyed w/ SciFi for killing the one night of TV I look forward to each week (Friday of course. :cry . I loved the Geekometer/Squirrel Identifier and especially the ADB game. My kids beg to swat the head. :grin
Written by AylaMc on 2006-12-16 19:38:58
Oh yes, over the past few days my family and I were sucked into the world that is The Lost Room. That was a crazy show - my brother is thoroughly obsessed at this point, and I would be if I weren't so gosh darned exhausted. ^.^
I see by the picture that you and Jane have found youself in room 10! Now what? :D
Written by MdGateFan on 2006-12-15 17:27:52
Just told good old Tivo to record it on Sunday.

Your story sort of reminds me of me and my firends at the end of an episode of 24. "I don't care if I don't get any sleep...I need to know what is going to next."
the lost room!

Sounds good

Oh the powers of peer pressure! Now I've got to find out when it's being aired in the UK (if it ever is) coz it sounds really cool :D

I hope everyone has a great christmas, watching your fave "geek shows" (my brothers name for almost every programme I like) and whatnot coz I sure will *g*

Written by wordplay on 2006-12-14 21:20:41
but it took me till the second night, and I'm actually catching up on the last two hours right now. (All hail the DVR!) My favorite thing is that, apparently, items from 1961 are now sufficiently dated to be creepy. (Also? Margaret Cho in science fiction? Oh, yes, please!)

I'll be interested to see what the share is on this - I grok sci-fi so well and yet am so often confused by the decisions of Sci-Fi. It'd be nice to see them do well here. (Actually, I spend rather a lot of time hoping Sci-Fi will do well. :grin )

Thanks to you, I'm now TiVoing all the parts on Sunday :p
What on Earth...

... are you on about?

I'm clueless. And I almost positive it's nothing to do with the amount of Malibu I've drunk tonight.

The UK doesn't get this show. You know, like you don't get Torchwood? *smiles sweetly*

I love this show! I was watching while you were I guess. It is AMAZING.

Why is Mars sniffing Jane's ear???
Written by kamelion on 2006-12-14 08:00:59
suekay,

Tivo is one of those digital recorders that you can program to record shows using titles, actors, interests, ect. Can program it to record every show in a series and not worry about setting a VCR. It's like downloading into a computer. Can save shows, and rewind/pause live tv. I sort of understand the science of it but I'm not getting into that right now. I'm trying not to sound like a commercial!

And now, back to the regularly scheduled...schedule.
Written by kamelion on 2006-12-14 07:55:09
I was curious about that show, so of course I missed it. I'll keep an eye out, scifi likes to repeat.

Adding praise, "Tao of Rodney" was incredible, definitely a favorite! Fans are raving all over the place.

Fun to see you go all fannish over something. Keep it up, makes me feel not *quite* so strange.

Sending love! :grin
Lost Room showing in the UK????

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks as if SciFi are going to show it in the USA; if you google "The Lost Room" then SciFi is at or near the top, but I wonder who will show it in the UK? Sounds good, anyway. I will remember to watch out for it.

If I remember correctly, and no way am I claiming that, I'm sure I saw an advert to say Sci-Fi are showing it over here in the UK, Monday 18 December at 21:00.

Then again, it could just mean I need to get my medication checked. lol :p
Written by sueKay on 2006-12-14 05:40:22
will definitely look out for The Lost Room if it makes it to Britain! Thanks for the recommendation! :grin

And I wish someone would actually tell me what TiVo is! I keep hearing about people TiVo-ing but I have no clue what it is!
Written by watcher652 on 2006-12-14 05:36:44
Ha, what a photo! It looks like Mars is whispering in Jane's ear, "Please, can we go now?"

Peter Krause in anything is worth watching. I'm glad to read that you enjoyed it, too.

Off topic, but I wanted to say that Kate's play was great. I think I read in an interview that you thought all your sisters were funnier than you are. (Hard to imagine after watching the trailer to your movie!) Kate certainly has a way of conveying her humor and her observations on human behavior. Seems like a Hewlett trait to be good with words.
Loving TiVo!!
Written by MagicMeerkat on 2006-12-14 05:24:32
Will definitely check out The Lost Room. I think I must be one of the few UK people with a TiVo. It's great but have you ever been a victim of TiVo Timing? It always knows exactly when to stop recording... "And the winner is..." BONG. "Would you like to delete this recording?" NYEARGH!!!
Sounds great!!
Written by Gebo on 2006-12-14 04:53:37
Sounds a great show. Wish I could get it :sigh Maybe TV will show it over here in the UK. Don't you love the way we all shorten words now so just for you - TTFN. CUL8R.
:roll :grin

Written by Zerocool on 2006-12-14 02:17:35
Will be keeping an eye out for it in the UK but I haven't even seen 'Traders' yet! :sigh
Is my life going to be a litle worse off for not seeing it? :sigh
Written by Night Spring on 2006-12-14 01:06:43
(at the very least pack a pin-tumbler locking door knob!)

I just saw the first half hour of the first episode (my roomie had to go to bed, and he made me promise not to watch any more until he had time to watch it with me), and have been wondering if anyone ever tries to just turn that key in an unattached door knob, and if they do, what happens????

And Mars looks very perplexed but resigned, like "What are you people doing ***again***?"
Written by Bek78 on 2006-12-13 23:43:33
Good to know it's not only us fans getting obsessed about sci-fi.

Maybe someday it'll show in Australia and I'll have some clue what the hell you're on about. In the meantime, I'm enjoying the new boxed set of season two Atlantis complete with commentaries and features - thanks so much!

Anyways, enjoy, relax and happy hols to you both and Mars. ;)
Written by SeiyaTheLeaper on 2006-12-13 23:38:28
Ok, considering that fans here are from all over the world, tempting us with shows that are only just airing there is SO. NOT. FAIR.!! Now I'll have to resort to... "unconventional" ways to see it... *ahem*
Geekdom.
Written by kudos4kkms on 2006-12-13 23:08:01
YES YES YES.
It was so ridiculously wonderful!
Not you too!
Written by Dew on 2006-12-13 22:52:47
They keep playing ads for the show on the radio here in Seattle and it's so painful. I need to hurry up and get cable again so I can watch not just things like The Lost Room but also that OTHER show people keep insisting on being all spoilerish about.

Stop that.
Written by Shawna on 2006-12-13 22:39:58
Hopefully they'll show it again, as I fear I'm too late for the one tonight. As if I needed another thing taking me away from being a productive member of society, after my shiny new Zelda game, "Brotherhood" on DVD, and my recent discovery that Netflix address slips get me free rentals at Blockbuster.
It's showing on Space , too!
Written by kittenz2006 on 2006-12-13 22:31:14
For you (us?) Canadians out there the Lost Room is showing on Space as well. Love the show, loved the fx with the polaroid of room 10 and it's the best role Dennis Christopher has had since playing Jack in Profiler. Check out The Triangle as well, episode 3 on the 17th. :grin

Might try again ;)

Written by ladyc3 on 2006-12-13 22:11:56
Then again who ever said it was? David, you and Jane are torturing me! I am just going to have to dig up the change as a starving student and get cable just so I can see these cool shows! Then I will have something to do (besides study) when it snows...I assume it snows in Arcata???? And I am typing this on my new (and first) laptop! :grin
Written by Rebeccasaurus on 2006-12-13 21:30:57

Colossal "ARGH!"

Damn my homework load! Damn my absolute need to start getting ready for the day before the sun comes up! Damn waking up at 5am! I can't stay up long enough to watch without paying dearly for it in the morning! :upset

Thankfully, my first big vacation is days away. My dad and I both wanted to watch The Lost Room (me for the premise, my dad because the idea of lost children makes him very obsessive and concerned...), but couldn't. I shall pray to the gods of reruns constantly for the next few days. Both of us will be on vacation this coming week. :grin
Written by SGAngeL on 2006-12-13 21:11:45

Seriously, how cute are the two of you?

I've recently started a Stargate marathon, rewatching everything from the beginning (and awwing over things like the titanium iris they had and O’Neill’s hair color). So, yes the fact that you are geeking out over something at the same time fits perfectly (if only in my deranged Stargate burned mind.)

Also. The pic? Adorkable.

Hey, that's what holidays are for... cheesy movies and good movies! :grin Having fun is the key for me during holidays!

Last xmas, I bought a DVD I stumbled upon at a local shopping centre - what do you know, it was Boa vs Python! Great xmas movie and good to just chill out. ;)
