Kate gets in later (much later… cheap flights don’t you know!). We’ve arranged for a car to pick her up, because baby, when you do L.A. for the first time, you want to do it right! We also got her a nice chill pad hotel room, so if she’s really snotty and uppity tomorrow, it’s not because she’s tired baby, it’s because she’s a star!
The two Lenics, Michael and John, are heading in tomorrow because they’re far too important to be here a day early ;-) Michael was so great to work with in pre-production and so striking on camera (the poor lad got stuck standing in for me while I was “directing”) that I ended up writing him this cool “Starcrossed” character “Zero”. He just nailed it! I mean he was perfect an evil young sting type. Then I had to go and cut the part down to nothing. Just know that what you’re NOT seeing tomorrow is early footage of star… now that I think about it, I’ll see if I can dig up the footage so you can see for yourselves!
Now, I’ve seen a couple of postings about cameras and even mention of a couple of evil intentions to film the film. So, let me be very clear here... By all means bring your cameras, take your photos and shoot your videos before and after the screening, in fact get us clips and photos to show off the event… BUT PLEASE! NO HANDY-CAM FOOTAGE OF THE FILM! We went to a lot of trouble shooting this puppy in glorious HD! If you do see anyone trying to get an early home video of our mutt, feel free to smack ‘em senseless with a squirrel, steal their camera and then hunt them down every day for the rest of their miserable rodent existence! Seriously, I really don't want these screenings to work against us by spooking distributors with bad Internet copies of the film! Nuff said ;-)

Good Luck! Written by Pegasus28 on 2006-11-24 12:15:00 Good luck on the film! If you like, the University I attend is swarming with mutated insane squirrels so I'd be happy to send you some to send after anyone trying to videotape! |

Written by stargzr051 on 2006-11-19 22:48:19 I wish I could be there, but sadly, i am stuck in Abilene, TX going to school... and working on an evil thing called an Exegesis paper. I hope all goes well... oh and I ordered myself a copy of Treed Muray and thought it was awesome. Although, I don't know how the Canadian rating system works, and after this one, i really do wonder. I did like the movie... just fyi. |
Written by nunshavingfun on 2006-11-18 23:20:37 The movie was hilarious! I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a long time. Also Vincezo Natali is uber nice. He put up with my questions about Nothing being an existential movie.

You don´t need good luck wishes Written by Masterchica on 2006-11-18 02:48:12 You are soo silly, I love that abouth you. This are words from Edgar Allan Poe (Sad sad poet, totally my kind of guy) “The ninety and nine are with dreams, content but the hope of the world made new, is the hundredth man who is grimly bent on making those dreams come true” You are livind the dream man, you already are lucky. |
Written by NethDugan on 2006-11-17 19:56:21 *waves from all the way over in Bristo, England* I wish I could have been there! If I had money for a plane ticket *kicks stupid student fees*. |
Audience Reaction Written by Astrumporta on 2006-11-17 15:35:01 We're posting reports and pics over on the forum, in the top thread in the ADB forum. It was wonderful! David, Jane, and Kate were so nice to the fans, the Lenics were there... it was a great event. Plus the movie was fantastic! Everyone should go see it when they get the chance, which I hope is soon for all of you! |
Written by Vive les Unas on 2006-11-17 12:13:07 I'm dying to know the audience reaction ! LA was a little too far away my country and I couldn't come for the screening, but I want to knoooooow !! |
Written by Nightsister on 2006-11-17 11:15:33 I hope you got Kate a big bowl of M&Ms with all the brown ones removed... I bet this weekend will be a blast, and I can't wait for a screening in NYC!! |
And? so? well? Written by aclarar on 2006-11-17 07:52:26 c'man people we, the ones from far away lands, will like to know how it was.

Good luck from the UK! Written by Ali_77 on 2006-11-16 19:00:34 So excited for you all out in LA!!! Can't wait to see this film soon (but not from the pirates! Grrrrrr!). It's 1 am in the UK so I guess it's early evening for all you premiere attendees and you must be getting very excited! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!! Look forward to hearing all about it!!! |
Written by unspokenlonging on 2006-11-16 18:59:45 yaaay! leaving in a half an hour to get there on time! see ya there :D |
Written by sueKay on 2006-11-16 17:18:50 Good luck! Hope it goes really well! Alas I'm on the wrong side of the world! Met Paul in Edinburgh today, but he wasn't letting on anything about the film! I'll just need to wait until Pegasus 2 hopefully :D |
Break a Leg--and stay in one piece Written by Captain Peregrine on 2006-11-16 16:55:07 Oh, I hope it all goes well! And I hope to see you at a future screening--yes? :D Hope everything goes well. And I hope no one has to be beaten senseless because of their video cameras. That would sort of ruin the mood, I think... though it could work in your favor, I suppose. :D Good luck and break a leg--but, please, don't hurt yourself. :D :P |
Good luck! Written by casey on 2006-11-16 16:18:20 Good luck - how exciting!!! I'm gonna try to avoid reading anything because I really want to enjoy the movie (when I finally get to see it...). I honestly don't want to be spoiled by "well-meaning" but overtly excited fans who want to share their joy with the world! But good luck - and be nice to Kate - she's such a sweet person and deserves to be a star!!!

Tomorrow Written by Annie on 2006-11-16 15:53:20 Hope you all have a great time tomorrow and that it goes brilliantly. |
With you in spirit Written by crazymom on 2006-11-16 14:18:46 Stuck in Kansas City, but thinking of LA. |
Written by Heather the Scripty on 2006-11-16 14:01:19 I'm right there with you guys in spirit, even if I can't manage a corporeal presence. Much love to you all, from me and the family. Hugs and kittens, ~Heather, your Script Supervisor p.s. The site looks amazing! |
Jealous as all hell!! Written by ariana on 2006-11-16 13:29:49 I'm with Taywolf on this - sadly also in Scotland and severely lacking the funds to go to LA. I am soo jealous. I hope everyone has a blast anyway! |
Presenting the puppy! Written by watcher652 on 2006-11-16 11:33:37 Ah, David! How I envy all the squirrels who get to see the first public screening (why are we called squirrels, anyway?). I expect glowing reports from everyone and lots of photos and film of the event (but not of the movie itself, of course!) I can't make up my mind if I want to know the whole plot of the movie before I see it or just go ahead with the spoilers. Oh, who am I trying to kid? Of course I want to know every sentence of dialog, every change in wardrobe, every attempt at Paul's, er, Ryan's life. Because, who knows when I'll get to see the puppy. You'll have the proper trailer for us to view soon, right? And yes, deleted scenes galore are very much desired as DVD extras. Marketing, marketing. Will there be autographed photos of Mars available? Or maybe a little stuffed Mars to take home and cuddle? Future products to consider. After you hug Kate, give her a hug from all her fans. I'm so excited for you! |
I'm a happy squirrel! Written by TJinLOCA on 2006-11-16 11:19:12 Packing the car now ... I can't wait to see everybody! Thanks for the posting, David. I'm so excited to finally be able to see this film! :D |
:-) Written by Laiqualasse on 2006-11-16 10:32:30 Good luck and have fun tomorrow! |
Written by elfgirl on 2006-11-16 09:50:00 Have fun! I'm terribly envious of everyone who's getting to go. Here's hoping there's little call for squirrel-smacking. |
Good luck! Written by s_aurius on 2006-11-16 09:44:55 I hope everything goes really well today! Wish I could be there, but hopefully I'll be at the next one?! grr. There better not be any bootlegged versions online If I find any there will be some major squirrel throw down! |
[B]Green - I'm definitely green at the Written by crazy4dh on 2006-11-16 08:32:58 Even if I had the money I couldn't come because my son's 16th birthday is Sunday and he'd kill me if I chose DH over his 16th. The truth comes out at last, sorry DH you are 2nd in my heart. That said, if I had a clone I could be both places. Oh well, I'll be there in spirit. Hope the screening ROCKS!! Can't wait to see reviews. Wish my computer at home worked right now. I'm in information limbo during the weekend. It drives me crazy. Don't drink too much tonight and end up hung over tomorrow. Celebrate afterwards!! |
Mars should be on sentry duty Written by taywolf on 2006-11-16 08:09:32 Mars should be at the event and should be stanting guard on the way out, sniffing away for illegal copies of the film. I am jealous of everyone who can make it to the film. But I am in the wrong continent (Scotland) and I have sinusitis (dying). I hope that everybody enjoys themselves and stuff their faces with popcorn and chocolate. |
Written by tmac72 on 2006-11-16 06:50:34 Good luck with the screening today. I hope everyone makes it there safely and has a wonderful time. |
Break a Leg! Written by rosiewook on 2006-11-16 06:00:12 You guys will have a BLAST! Just the few tidbits we've seen have shown that this will be a wonderful film. We'll all be anxiously awaiting reports on this end. And those of you in the audience had best protect this film from the pirates. We're counting on you! |
Written by dutch eowyn on 2006-11-16 03:50:14 OMG GOOD LUCK AND I WISH I WERE THERE TOO!!!!! *capslock of excitement* I hope we get to see a lot of pics and stuff from before and after the screening, and everyone who tries to film the actual movie, will be pointed out, mocked and banned from squirrelhood. |
Written by Delka on 2006-11-16 03:35:37 Yes, of course best of luck with the screening from this fan (who is SO wishing she could be there for it!). Alas, all good things come to those that wait. And love this part from your news "feel free to smack ‘em senseless with a squirrel" I just now have visions of someone showing up in a squirrel costume now. Can't wait to hear how it goes! Delka |
Written by mystisblom on 2006-11-16 03:26:53 I hope you have a wonderful time, and you Kick Ass! |
Written by Erynn on 2006-11-16 02:42:17 Good luck at the screening, David. I really wish I could be there to support you guys, but me and affording a trip to LA don't get under the same roof all that often -- and I have to save up for a Pagan con in Feburary down in Oakland anyway. *grr* I'll be presenting some workshops, but I'm not a big enough nosed Pagan yet for them to fly me down. At least I get to stay with one of the other presenters for Way Cheap. And see my long distance girlfriend. Yay me! I hope the screening goes well and that everyone has a fabulous time. I love the pic from Starcrossed, and wasn't sure who the third guy was, so thanks for that info! Zero sounds fun. Knock 'em dead, killer! |
Written by Zerocool on 2006-11-16 02:28:35 Oh and by the way, and one we catch with dodgey cam footage will be hung by their tails AND pushed out of the tree house AND not allowed back in! |
Zero Great Name!!!!!!!!! Written by Zerocool on 2006-11-16 02:07:00 As darklock says prophetic indeed^ I'm sure more of us will get to meet you in the flesh soon. mmmmmm wine.... *reaches for a glass of Red and raises it* Hope tomorrow goes brilliantly! x |
Written by ZoniDuck on 2006-11-16 00:17:48 Best wishes for a wonderful screening experience tomorrow night. I so wish I could be there. I hope you and Jane and the gang have a fabulous time, and that you're pleased with everyone's reaction to your baby. I look forward to hearing all about it from everyone in the forum. |
*Insert Enthusiastic Exclamation Here* Written by Aten on 2006-11-15 23:47:50 OHMYFARGANGOODNESS!!!! Words cannot describe the awesomeness of how I feel right now! Yes, the food court rocks my socks. Westside Pavilion used to be one of my favorite haunts when I lived down the street from it six years ago. Though the glorious mall and I have grown slightly apart, I still keep a special place in my heart set aside for it, and now that little place is about to have an enormous growth spurt! I swear on...er...the highest thing I can possibly swear on that this is by far the best way to turn eighteen that life can offer me. For fear of being redundant, I shall state that I am looking forward to this with every available fiber of my being! By the way, I'll be carrying a copy of my now-famed Photoshop project with me. I managed to work ADB into the assignment in school. Rule-bending was definitely worth it. |
Written by Shawna on 2006-11-15 23:38:43 Hope everyone gets there safely and has a good time. Wish I could come. I'm really looking forward to hearing the reports, though. |
Written by stillwaters on 2006-11-15 23:34:36 Good luck tomorrow! I'll be there in spirit, and I'm really looking forward to the reviews that follow.

Written by Jen the Fangirl on 2006-11-15 23:06:41 Less than 24 hours now!!! Yes!! :D I'm so tired right now. Wish I had more interesting things to say. See you tomorrow! :D |

Written by darklock on 2006-11-15 22:56:10 Zero... prophetic name, that. Squirrel in waiting. |
OooOooh Written by windshieldbug on 2006-11-15 22:55:16 Power is very limited here because of the wicked storms that ripped Florida today. So I have to make this fast! Ah! Sounds like fun for all yall. Don't know why someone would sell you a bad hotel room (I could do so much better!!) Kate'll have fun for her first time in LA. We can wait to see her blog about it. I feel sorry for the food court workers! All those rabid squirrels running around! So sorry to be missing all the fun. Have a wonderful time and we await fun pictures (but no copies of the film!).
