I’ve been using Craigslist.org for posting ads. I love this system and it is such a great community approach to doing business. The problem is that they don’t want one person placing ads in every city on their system…exactly what I want to do! I could be an Internet devil squirrel and set up millions of email accounts and post that way, but I would rather play by their rules. So, what do you think about picking a city (some cities are split into regions so you’ll need to have one person for each) and then posting a little blurb in the “Pets”section about Mars’ rise from death row in the local animal shelter to his magnificent movie debut. Please be sure to include at least these two links:
Since there is quite a lot of competition for placement of these postings it would be ideal if you could delete it and repost it every 48 hours or so. That’ll keep it at the top of the list.
The squirrel reign begins!…that’s “reign” not “rain”… because that would be uncomfortable for everyone and every squirrel concerned.

So I'm quite sure that the one I posted is kind of useless, but I did my job anyway.
Lyon, France is done, and the add should stay there for some time since it's the only one in the "pets" section  , who knows, someone (other than me) might even stumble upon it (don't ask how, I really have no idea), and that'll be one more clic for the youtube link

Captain Peregrine & I are in the same boat, no posting for 7 days. After that, I will have ALL of North Carolina covered. Craigslist has my state broken up into about 7 regions, so I'm just going to do them all. Assuming that no one else has taken it, I'm also going to cover the southeastern part of Virginia. It's a conglomerate of several cities & with a very large Naval presence.

To link up with an animal charity would get through to your fans, Stargate fans, mutt maniacs, and normal people who support the chosen charity.
If you were to bring the film to say, just as an example Perth, you could saturate the country (Scotland) with ads if you had an "official representative" in each country.

I have never been to Vancouver, although I would like to, but to ban my posting was nasty and cruel.
I managed to post for Edinburgh and Glasgow and on a national forum www.answerbank.co.uk so that will have to do for now.
Your next course of action is, as you know, dependant on your master plan - apart from world domination.
I don't know about the states and Canada but in the UK we have many charity shops of varying standards. To link up with an animal charity - SSPCA,RSPCA,PDSA, the Dog's trust and Blue Cross are the main charities that operate nationally in this area - although the Blue Cross, RSPCA and Dog's trust are not seen in Scotland.
Your head must be buzzing thinking about all this. But think of the $$$ at the end of the day.
Mars is a lovely dog. I hope you all have a good life.

I find this freakin' hilarious especially since I've just hopped on the David Hewlett Fan Wagon.
You talk about Squirrel Marketing for ADB...and here I am watching the Daily Show w/ John Stewart (b/c my marketing job works me to death and I miss any chance of watching "real" news)...anyhow it is U.S. election time for the House & Senate and they show a clip from CNN regarding a "rogue squirrel" wreaking havoc on election polls.

David - good luck on the marketing of ADB. I live in small West Virginia town but we do have The Greenbrier resort...the only thing I could offer for ADB locally is to get you in touch with Carnegie Hall which loves bringing in art house type films, etc.
I know its a small offer but if its of interest, I'll do what I can.

Why don't you also run some sort of competition, the prize does not need to be more than a bit of 'memorabilia', but if it is listed on a competition website you will get loads of people visiting your site who would not normally do so. You can also do some sort of devious psychological type of advertising. It looks like a good black humour family film, and it has a lovely dog in it- what more do people need? |
