G4 me and the mutt
G4 me and the mutt
In a bid to create some fabulous new content for you fine wired folks, I thought it might be a good idea to get a FAQ going.  If you are interested, hop onto the FAQ forum and let me know what sort of information you'd be looking for.  I'm looking for questions about... well me, as well as any past present and future work...that sort of thing.  Sound good?  Once we've complied a few questions I'll get working on some interesting, useful or mindless answers.

So long, and thanks for all the FAQ!

PARENTAL EXPECTATIONS
Written by greybeard33 on 2007-02-02 20:48:16
I read something you wrote about your father being a Dr (my wife & I are trying to have a child, with complications).

I was curious if your father approved of your career choice(s) in the beginning and/or generally? Did you ever feel pressure to follow in his footsteps?

I have to say that with regard to your blog on The Evils Of TV, I grew up in rural Australia in the early 80's. We had 2 channels! But life was good as one was the ABC...which thankfully aired Dr Who! (naturally I'm a fan).

Congratulations on ADB.
Cheers Peter

Question:
Exactly how big are your hands?

It's just something I've wanted to know for some time now. Don't know why...

Not-such-a-FAQ

So, I read in an interview where you mentioned Duran Duran, and by the way you knew the names of the members, can I assume that you are/were a fan? Since you and I are almost the same age (4 months apart), I'd like to know what 80's band was your favorite? And did your wardrobe/hairstyle ever resemble your favorite band's? As an aside, I'm actually going to see Duran Duran tonight in Chicago - *very* excited since the last time I saw them was in 1988 at Radio City Music Hall. But they were one of my faves back in high school, and yes, I did the whole funky red/black clothing thing for at least a solid year. Heh.

So how do we get to see it? Is it downloadable online? Is there some kind of distribution? Like can we buy a DVD or rent one??

I watched the clip and it looks really great!

Scotland!

Like Flubber, above, I live in Scotland and would love to see your movie - however Canada is a awfully long way to trek to see a film (even if it has a mega handsome star - is he giving autographs? an inky paw print would do). So - geeky genius - is there a solution? I live in Perth.

my cat died Flubber. :(
Will 'A Dogs Breakfast' make it to the

Hi there. I have a question for you. It runs like this.

I really would like to see your movie, but I have a problem. I live in the UK, (Aberdeen Scotland to be exact!!!). Spending the money on a flight to go see a movie would not be justified. (Not to mention the fact that I REALLY hate flying!!!:x) So is there any chance that there will be a release over here?

Yours hopefully

Question?
Written by kerravon on 2006-09-17 19:37:09
As I understand this forum, it is to ask questions of Mr. Hewlett? If so, I have one: Will you be attending any sci-fi conventions in the near future (besides 'Comicon') and, if so, will you screen part of "A Dog's Breakfast" there? My husband and I live in a very small town with only one cinema, so I doubt it will come here. If not, will you be posting a list at some point of where it will be screened? There may be someplace nearby I can go see it. (Sorry, that was more than one question...)
Toronto Connection
Written by Anatra Diabolica on 2006-09-14 17:25:36
David,
Here is a question I’ve been pondering for years. What is the Toronto / Actor connection? Is there a giant farm there where they grow actors? Is there something in the water? The reason I’m asking this is that I’ve often noticed that a Canadian actor’s imdb profile often lists their birth place as Toronto, Canada, and a very large majority of the Canadian actors I’ve run across seem to either be born in Toronto or have grown up there. It’s not just a case of Toronto being the Ellis Island of actors hoping to work in the states; most of them seem to have become actors AFTER living there for a while.

When I saw your imdb profile I was a little surprised to see that you were born in the UK and I figured my Toronto connection theory was off in your account. But no! In reading further I saw that you did indeed spend a good deal of time in Toronto before you became an actor.

What gives?

Mars, please tell your human people that you are far too cute to have this few pictures of your in your blog.

If they don't listen, drop a tennis ball that you've sufficiently slimed in their laps. That usually gets them going. (When my human ignores me, I whack her in the head with my ball of tape on a stick or drop toy mousies in her shoes.)

THE CAT
Written by taywolf on 2006-09-12 09:22:13
I think that this cat is Rodney McKay's smug pussy cat. It came from a cats protection mewsletter or was it newslitter?

I really didn't think that the image would come out so large though - sorry, but I am not geeky enough to master such things.

MUTTS RULE OKAY

The Creation

When God had made the earth and sky
the flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
the fish, the birds and bees.

And when at last He’d finished
not one was quite the same.
He said, “I’ll walk this world of mine
and give each one a name.”

And so He travelled far and wide
and everywhere He went,
a little creature followed Him
until its strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth
and in the sky and sea,
the little creature said, “Dear Lord,
there’s not one left for me.”

Kindly the Father said to him,
“I’ve left you to the end.
I’ve turned my own name back to front
and called you dog, my friend.”
