Collared

Mars in collar
Collared Mutt

The pressures of fame? The high stakes of an upcoming movie debut? Or a mutt on the edge?

Any way you look at it, this week saw an embarrassing display of off-set antics by movie mutt Mars, the star of the upcoming film "A Dog's Breakfast". Reality bit the wayward canine in the form of hard time in the "cone of shame". It seems that the vacationing pooch was over zealous with his scratching of an insect bite after spending a wild weekend in Canada’s B.C. interior. "He feels like an idiot" says producer Jane Loughman of her forlorn pet, "And he looks like one too", says Hewlett, the writer/director/star of the film that is making Mars the toast of the canine social scene. Still, this puppy is going to have to clean up his act if he’s going to weather his whippet fast rise from death-row pound rescue, to Hollywood stardom.

Mars’ reps claim that the dog is “simply exhausted” and is now recovering at home with close friends and family.

Hey Mars, do you get satelite tv with this thing?

If so, maybe you could share it with the group...

And nothing relieves the pressure like a good scratch.

So Mars, my dog, Go for it!!

Life is just too damn short for regrets. 8)

To make you feel better

Ah Mars, if it's any consolation, check out what this doggie is wearing. You'll feel much better! (Um, unless it gives your humans ideas.)

Reminds me of when my dog Shana had knee surgery. (We called her "the Conehead" after that.) We eventually figured out that the weird bumping noises we heard in the middle of the night was her trying to get under the bed while wearing the cone...
More photographs of Mars - please.

You are such a handsome devil and I think that there should be some more photographs of you on the site. You adopted your parents and they should be eternally grateful for this. If you ever need somewhere to come for your holidays just come over to Scotland and I will show you all nice doggy tourist places. We have some really nice lamp posts and trees for you to mark. My cat died recently and you could give me lots of TLC. (You wouldn't have lasted two seconds in a fight with him, and he was 18)

If the following link works, Mars, it is cat from a Cats Protection newslitter. I think that it looks like a very smug Rodney McKay, that is who your daddy pretends he is when he goes out to play each day.

Mars, when you go to all the functions linked to your film that you star in with some humans, you can pretend that the cone is the 'must have' fashion item. Not for you being stuck in a handbag and left dangling in mid-air. You are a handsome mutt and don't let anyone forget it. Susan :) DOG'Snull

If anyone can work the Cone Head style, Mars honey, you can.

Such a cute doggy. I miss having a dog of my own. All mine have been rescues, too. Now we just have three cats and a ferret, but they're all lovely. I think Mars is lucky to be loved so much.

Better that he only got an insect bite for that wild weekend!

Mars, you're adorable. Try to look on the bright side about your current "outfit". Just say you're dressing up for Halloween as a martini glass!

:roll You know, cones are nothing to be ashamed off. They're darned itchy, but not to be ashamed of. Its best to walk around with your head held high (but not up- especially not in rain, beleive me - THAT is uncomfortable) and get on with it. lol :p

Mars, darling you look fabulous in your daring fashion statement. I'm seeing major endorsement contracts in your future.

And "who" took Mars to the BC Interior? - hmmm? - I'm guessing that that would be the same person who is now performing lots of nice neck scratches and massages when the "cone of shame" is taken off? - regularly?

( In case they're not doing it Mars, just head for the ankles, whack the ankles with the sharp edge of the cone - gets their attention BIG time! - or just wipe it on them, 'specially after you've had a big drink, eaten or been slobbering, oh yeah, I can see the cone coming off regularly and way lots of good neck rubs after that :grin )

Wow, not usually a dog person (prefer cats), but Mars, you are very cute!

And such a star! A golden doggie dish for you in the future? :p

Aw Mars, don't be upset. Don't see it as a "cone of shame" but a convenient food funnel, and if your human people tease you too much about it, the cone can be a very effective 'whapping' tool.

Also, you can usually get away with a nice shove or two in sensitive places and blame it on the cone.
"What?! I didn't do it, it was the stupid cone you put on me!"

If Mars, an amazing dog, but dog nonetheless, feels like an idiot for scratching insect bites (all too likely to be accumulated in the area)--then what are humans who suffer the same afflictions supposed to feel?

^^;; Maybe the transition to stardom was becoming exhausting and he just needed a break!
