![]() Evil Daddy! We've just finished the two-parter where I had WAY too much fun with the...can't say enough great things about him, Michael Shanks. That guy is such a star - funny, charming and the consummate professional...all with no attitude either!...I was bugging Mallozzi to bring him back after about an hour of working with the guy! Also had the pleasure of shooting with Gero as he directed us in a few second unit days. He really shone! He's a damn clever fellow and he really knows his stuff...certainly someone to keep your eye on...I look forward to doing battle with him! Great stuff! Poor Jane, she's getting married in a couple of weeks...to me! She has just been incredible, juggling Baz and every tiny little wedding related detail and still somehow managing to prepare the most delicious dinners on my return from the Pegasus galaxy every night...someone should marry that woman! Baz is amazing. I love my son, I know it sounds corny, but that is one gorgeous kid! He's talkative and dying to prove that he doesn't need our help with transportation anymore. He crawls around backwards (so I guess that's slwarcing?) giggling happily to himself and generally makes it very hard for me to leave the house for any reason for fear of missing that smile! I think Flanigan put it best when he said having a kid was like pulling your heart out and watching it crawl around in front of you...I had always thought that was a bit gory, even for me, but now I think I understand what he's talking about...they really do make a mess ;-) Speaking of transport, we drove down to Seattle last weekend where I ran into an amazing number of Stargate fans who were kind enough to stop and say hello, be they visiting Pike Place Market or just buzzing around the downtown core. Seattle is a fantastic city! I really want to spend some more time down there. I think I'm cooler just from that brief visit. We bought a couple of amazing suits for me (Paul Smith, don't you know!) and Jane now thinks I may actually look like I'm worth marrying...as long as I'm wearing one of them. I'm torn though, because I've also bought, what I call my "silver Duran Duran fancy pants suit" that I'm eager to try out. Jane and the lovely and talented Val (the Atlantis costume designer) picked that gem out for me up here in Vancouver. I think I'll need to walk down the aisle myself to the opening riffs of "Girls on Film" though. The eighties never died, they just got funny looking. I have picked my favourite for the "Bark of Truth" trailer...RoddyShadow! Thanks to everyone for putting these things together, you're all my best friends;-) I've actually tried to contact RoddyShadow in order to get them a signed poster, but I haven't heard anything back via YouTube. So, if anyone knows who I'm talking about when I type RoddyShadow, let them know I'm looking for them to get me an address so I can fawn all over them! Speaking of which...what are we going to do for "Stargate: Continuum"? The SG1 movie is being released at the same time as "A Dog's Breakfast" internationally, so we'll have to work out something for that fortuitous aligning of the stars...any ideas? We're working on Fox to have some press in the UK and France while we're out there, but we should probably start thinking about some new and exciting ways of supporting the "A Dog's Breakfast" International release! And while we're on ideas...I'm thinking doing a serious website reno. My thought is to bring everything in under the dGeek.com umbrella and have different sections for davidhewlett.com, adogsbreakfastmovie.com the forums and all the other projects I'm working on. I'm also probably going to need some help with this...I'd love to make the site more "wiki" and visitor managed. I'm really looking to give our squirrel army the freedom to shape the site and the content more directly...but I'm going to have to do some serious research (and probably get married first!)...That said, in the near future I'm looking to get some graphic design, branding ideas and any user generated content suggestions I can get...I really don't have anything specifically in mind at this early stage, but I'm thinking something cool but nerdy...something worth putting on a tshirt and having some fun with. Feel free to let your creativity flow...come up with something good and you may have yourself a job! lots of love...and lines to learn D! |
