Jane has just had a chat with our wonderful distributors and it sounds like A Dog's Breakfast is now coming out on DVD "Internationally" in August...in tandem with the slightly larger film you may have heard chatter of... Stargate Continuum? Check out the Gateworld Pre-review...I think they like it! This is all something or another to do with the TV release of "Breakfast"...which I've got to say I'm rather excited about! We're coming to a small screen near you soon! Long story short, ignore all the last release dates that I painstakingly posted and set your calendars to August 2008 and circle the whole month until I get you an actual date!
As you may or may not know by now Kate and I will be doing an intimate little meet and greet in London this June. This will be the first event in the post Horrid Hewlett Wedding world, so be prepared to hear tales of misbehaving Aunts, Uncles, friends and relations all centered around the arms and armour filled halls of historic British Castles. The event info is already posted at the Wolf Events website. Can't wait to seeing you all as a married man! Next up is the mid-life crisis...I'm already looking at financing on giant 4x4 trucks...that run on bio-diesel ;-)
Speaking of Kate, she's just staggered into my trailer after a long flight from Toronto for a wardrobe fitting. I didn't know she was coming, so I forget to pretend I wasn't happy to see her...damn this uncontrollable reality! She's here to shoot the episode we start filming on Monday "The Shrine". This is the Brad Wright penned perfection I was raving about a little while back...can't wait!
I know that I'm bouncing around all over the place here...but where better than here I say...I just watched this amazing little speech by Sir Ken Robinson about education and creativity...which may sound like a complete snore, but is actually incredibly funny and absolutely fascinating...so laugh and learn...the perfect combination!
Last and not least thank to the Siberian Squirrels that camped out to say hi here at the Bridge Studios...you've all lost your minds but I love you for it!

Sir Ken Written by ladyc3 on 2008-04-24 23:45:47 Thanks David! That speech is awesome...I just e-mailed the link to everyone I know (including a school board member ) and put it on my blog. Peace! C- |
Written by SeiyaTheLeaper on 2008-04-21 13:39:24 Wow, thanks for linking to that speech... it was so true and quite inspiring. I'm going to spread it around! |
a dogs breakfast for my birthday Written by easia51 on 2008-04-21 05:51:04 yess, a dogs breakfast in august. It's my birthday in august . I hope it will be my birthday present. And london that's in the area. who knows maybe I stop by. david you're great (but I guess you already knew that) |
Sir Ken Robinson's speech Written by feedingtimeatthezoo on 2008-04-16 19:27:44 Thanks for the link to that speech David, and the site itself! There's enuff brain fodder there to keep me plugged in for a while. I work in a university here in Australia and I agree with so much of what Sir Ken said - there's so little recognition of all those other 'ways of knowing and being' - universities are very elitist about people's brains, and discount knowledge gained by avenues other than academia. Personally, I think carpenters are gods! The ability to turn wood into 'stuff' amazes me and a trade education for example should be seen as valuable, not as somehow 'less'.....anyway, that's my small soap-box ramble...LUV all the scifi in the world at the moment, and looking forwar to SGA season 5 and beyond! |
Love The Little Guy! Written by Sue on 2008-04-15 10:14:01 Baz is gorgeous, even with food residue splashed all over his face. Have a great season 5! |
Siberian Squirrel here Written by angiebaby on 2008-04-14 20:59:30 Seeing as you were so nice to mention us, it's only fair I pop in and say thank you for stopping and saying Hi to us. Itthink the only reason we stayed was the fact we were frozen to the spot LOL only kidding! We would have waited in snow for you. |
Written by Squonk on 2008-04-14 06:44:18 Great news for the international release! Thanks for taking the time to come and talk to us while you're over here - got my ticket booked! Really geting excited about S5 - there seems to be some really great stories in the pipeline. And thanks for posting the link to that talk - it was, as you said, hilarious and thought provoking at the same time. |
Siberia here I come Written by janekj84 on 2008-04-14 01:23:40 Blimey, it's really COLD at Bridge! I think they've given up on the search for my sanity, but it was great to see you, and awesome of you to say hi. Jane |
Mid Life Crisis Written by ladyconure on 2008-04-13 15:22:19 I have decided to postpone my "MLC" until I'm 60. At 59, I reserve the right to change that decision. I'll be 51 in a few days so I can "sits and thinks" about even bothering with a MLC and just jump into "eccentric and childlike". ...... Oh wait, I'm already there. Silly me! Lady Conure |
mid-life crisis Written by Barcardicider on 2008-04-13 15:14:07 I was led to believe, when I turned 40, that 40 is now the new 30, therefore 50 is the new mid-life. I didn't fall for it either, particularly when I woke the morning of my 40th and found that I had gained 10 pounds, my hair had turned grey and the boobs had headed south Thankfully there is hair dye, plastic surgery and therapy However, the mental age is still unchanged at around the 12 age mark so am therefore very, very excited about meeting you in June All the very best to you and yours.

THANKS DAVID Written by Wabit on 2008-04-13 14:17:23 Just wanted to say a big THANKS to you David for taking time out to chat to us, especially after you'd just finished a 15 and a half hour stint filming. It made the frozen toes and fingers well worth it in the end. Back in blighty now and looking forward to seeing you in June at the Wolf Con, should be fun. Wend |
Wish I could go... Written by Cherish4 on 2008-04-13 11:32:21 You are so awesome David. I mean you're just going to have got married and instead of basking in the after-glow of the wedding, you're gonna be taking time out to come and see some of your fans. Well that's awesome in my book. Just wish I could afford to go, as I would love to meet you and Kate. *hugs for you both and the rest of the family* null |
Written by jez on 2008-04-13 11:04:23 Thanks for the link to the Sir Ken Robinson talk (very funny and thought provoking) and the site in general is great. I've been getting a bit bored of the usual brain stimulation sites I trawl so very glad to have a new one Guess I'll be getting 20 copies of Breakfast for my birthday at the end of August then! Yippee!! Can't wait to hear the wedding stories in June See you there. P.S. Bouncing is never a bad thing!! |
Excited squirrel Written by welshgirl on 2008-04-13 10:59:43 OHMYGOD a London meet up and an international release date for ADB. You're spoiling us David. I'm sure the wedding in the castle will be fantastic, and not at all Horrid. Don't forget to post the pics on the site!

What's this mid-life crisis whining? Written by rosiewook on 2008-04-13 09:44:42 Oh, David. Forty is a great time! You finally reach the age where you don't care what anyone thinks. You can still be polite, but you stop caring anymore. I should know. I got there a month ahead of you. As for the wedding? I pass along my mother's advice. (She was a wedding planner.) "When it all comes down to it, you just need someone to marry you. The rest is all icing on the cake." My caveat: The crazy relatives are just a bonus for future blackmail material. BTW, please remind your sister that she has been remiss in her blogging, lately. We need an update! |
Great news! Written by Muffin on 2008-04-13 04:18:53 Tickets all booked for the London event and sadly we are back at the Thistle, seriously David if you had to stay there you'd be laughing too! *smirks* I'd totally concur those Siberian squirrels are mad, try having a few of them as friends hehe! Wish I had been out there with them guys! *circles August in all her calendars* Sounds like as good a month as any, looking forward to hearing more! |
Thanks for pointing out that speech Written by watcher652 on 2008-04-13 00:51:48 One thing I like about you, David, is you sharing these things you find with us. There is only so much time in anyone's life and when someone finds something wonderful like this and passes it on, we all are enriched. Give Kate a hug from all her fans here and tell her she needs to update her own blog! 8-) Oh, and save some of those embarassing wedding stories for Shoreleave!

Written by SalsGal on 2008-04-13 00:08:20 Same reason we switched to Verizon. |
Spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spamm Written by krysalys on 2008-04-12 23:35:44 Okay, so I've been watching too much Python recently. Am I sorry? NO. I mean, my son's ten now, and he MUST be initiated into the fish-slapping sketch, and the dead parrot sketch, and... well... everything Python. Well. Anyway. My advice for the wedding - Wear adult diapers. You'll be so wraped up in wedding day jitters, no matter how well-planned everything is, and last-minute hitches, that you'll forget all about hitting the head. So. Adult Diapers. Seriously. Also... bio-diesel 4x4's? My son's on his way right now to help you pick out the perfect one, since he's apparently the world's expert on monster trucks. Whatever you do, don't let him convince you to buy Grave Digger. He'll want to drive it before you do. Also? He runs on chicken nuggets and french fries. And chocolate milk. Just so you know. I hope Jane and Baz are able to come with you to Shore Leave. I'd root for Mars as well, but I know that the Con hotel is apparently allergic to pets. Still, maybe they'll allow an exemption for "the talent". One can only hope... Also - have prezzies for Jane and Baz. Yours was my contribution to the Doctors Without Borders auction for your birthday. Well, that and the hug I'm giving you and Kate at the photo op at Shore Leave. I'm so excited that you two are coming! -----}-@ Kris |
Written by sgakaz on 2008-04-12 20:54:53 Hi David will Kate still be there for your birthday after all it is one of the milestone ones. Just seen this on Joe's blog Dr. Alison Porter… Nicole de Boer and we all would love to know if you'll be working with your former Cube colleague on her episode, anyway all the best to you and yours for both events in June. |
Verizon buddies! :D Written by whovian on 2008-04-12 19:50:07 Mid-life crisis? Meh! Just stay 29 like me! Besides, Barbara Walters says we can live to be 150 which would make you 30 years too early. HEY!!!!!!!! I have Verizon TOO!!!! Call me! It's free! And I hate spam, too. Yucky spam! My husband says I'm not allowed to fly out to England in June. Soooo...you will just have to wait to see my gorgeousness in July at Shore Leave. It's okay, you don't have to be so sad about it. I know you are heartbroken. Anyway, have an excellent wedding and eat LOTS OF CAKE! Trish |
London, baby! Written by Laitaine on 2008-04-12 04:25:12 Well it sounds like good news all round. Soon I'll finally be able to get my paws on a copy of ADB, which I am desperate to see again, and Kate's guesting in Atlantis again, I adore Jeannie so this makes me happy. And London! I'm so excited about the event already, I can't wait to meet you and Kate, and to hear all about the wedding-related craziness. Is it June yet? |
Written by Zerocool on 2008-04-12 03:38:34 I'm still trying to convince the better half that the end of June in London would be a good idea before the tickets sell out. He isn't convinced though that the £90 wouldn't best be spent on baby things I want to go but I think I'm going to be denied. Besides I'm pretty certain that upstaging you by going into labour wouldn't be great . I also don't think I could withstand all the queing either |
Can't be at London! Sob! Written by sunnyannie on 2008-04-12 03:09:28 I LIVE THERE! And yet that happens to be the day we've booked to go on our holiday to the Lake District. I'm just completely gutted that I can't see you and Kate at the intimate little gathering. It would have been my first opportunity to wear my Forum Squirrel shirt. Do it again soon, OK? I promise not to book any more holidays until I know when you're coming here. On the plus side, some friends are bringing me a copy of ADB when they come home from America, so I don't have to wait until August. Best of luck with the wedding - I hope you're not actually giving up any honeymoon time to see us Squirrels? (Well, them Squirrels.) Thanks for all the fun and entertainment! |
Ha! Written by nakedwesley on 2008-04-12 00:18:55 Gero is such a liar! He said Kate wasn't doing an ep this season. Thanks for the real scoop. And Yay for Verizon! Will be sad to miss you in London, but perhaps you can repeat some of the best stories when you come to Baltimore a few weeks later. That is soooo much closer to home. |
TED! Written by penthesilea on 2008-04-12 00:08:29 That's my favorite TED talk. I like to throw a few on my ipod when I talk walks. |
Congratulations all around Written by telpethoron on 2008-04-12 00:07:19 Glad to hear everything going so well for you and yours, David...I for one would love to go to the London M&G, but I've already committed to Dragon*Con in Atlanta this year. I have no doubt it'll be a great time for everyone involved. ADB coming to television - that's great news indeed. Any idea which channel(s) it will be airing on? I've been trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible re: Season 5 of Atlantis - the show has been fantastic thus far, and I can't wait until the new season premieres. |
Written by PB_Gal on 2008-04-12 00:05:38 Awww.. how awesome both about the international releases and about Kate! Wish I could go to the Wolf event but stuck in Aus dealing with sick patient leaves little room for travel :S Anyway hopefully you do make it down to Australia one day again soon! |
Written by Rally Killer on 2008-04-11 23:32:40 I think a more appropriate mid-life crisis would be to go out and buy your wife many expensive things and get Baz all the cool toys. That way they'll still love you, even when you're spazzing on your age. Can't wait for Season 5, or the T.V. premire of A Dog's Breakfast! And congrats on that, by the way. Glad to hear that things are going so well in that department. |

Written by jenniferjensen on 2008-04-11 23:01:32 Congrats on the wedding and I would have loved to go to the meet and greet in London, but darn it I just don't get enough vacation time at work I do have to say that I was recently at the Con in Vancouver (first convention, first plane ride, yikes) and the Stargate sets are gorgeous. I might have to drag my dad next time, since he's a huge fan |
Written by MdGateFan on 2008-04-11 22:28:25 ADB on TV? Great news. Aren't you suppose a sports cars during a mid-life crisis? Still, best of luck on the wedding and all the cons you will attending in the weeks after. Looking forward to hearing wedding stories...

Lurkdom Written by ChasingKeegan on 2008-04-11 21:57:00 Well, I have been coming to your site for a very long time and needless to say I have been remiss in signing up and posting, not to say that I haven't rooted or supported your endeavors from the side (I have). All the talk talk here and over at Joe's blog (yes once again a lurker there) have me in suspended anticipation for season 5. Can't wait to see you and your sister again. Wanted to wish you luck on your upcoming nuptials, not that you need it. It is a whirl wind of day, my husband and I both joke that we weren't really there as we don't remember much. The one thing I do remember is by the end of the day I was finally able to breathe, but that might have to do with finally getting out of the dress! Ok, there. I have posted and now I can scurry back into the recess of lurkdom. |
One day..... Written by Torchwood on 2008-04-11 21:51:16 We love Verizon! Good switch! Now you can call all the squirrels on the network. Hell, call me Most of our pals are on Verizon. Please follow me on twitter...."begs, pleads, grovels, respectfully requests.....aw hell, you get the point," I'm deltatwo. Much love from the tribe in Tennessee, Michelle |
OHMIGOSH Written by crazy4dh on 2008-04-11 21:43:41 A new post! Just what I needed to cheer me up since I'm down with the most horrible stomach virus. Congrats all the way around! The wedding approaches. (Does Jane already have the loving ball and chain picked out?) Just joking - we all know she's your admitted better half although your devoted fans love your half very much. International release! TV - Yeah, so proud of how your little puppy is growing! Can't wait for all the details on the post London events. Between you and Joe Mallozzi us squirrels are dying of anticipation for Season 5. He has us completely stirred up about Whispers. Say hi to Kate, Jane, Baz, and Mars. Have fun with all that's happening and remember to keep us posted. -Leila

But since I can't afford to go to London, wehether you're there or not, nor to Shore Leave, nor Comicon for that matter ... Pleeeease come to Dragon*Con!!!!!!!! Onegai shimasu!!!
