We're in PC Magazine!
We're in PC Magazine!
I know I'm a little late on the uptake here but... there we are walking around the Point, trying to convince Hewlett version 2.0 to make an appearance. Suddenly there's Victor, one of our fabulous neighbours, clutching a copy of PC Magazine. The September 4,2007 edition in a Front Side article called "Movies: Straight to Download" to be precise! You know you've "made it" in the nerd-world when you're the subject of an article in PC Magazine...it almost makes we want to switch back to PC's! Thanks so much to Victor for caring enough to find it (and then download the movie and watch it twice!) and for letting his pizza get cold while he ran outside to give me his copy of PC Magazine! Of course many thanks to Heather for writing the article about us and our little "A Dog's Breakfast" and making this geek such a happy camper!

Peace!

D!

Taking off the sycophant hat for a bit.

The reception for "Adrift" from fans who decried adding Carter to the show seems to be very good. The word is her part seems tacked on, but many fans who threatened to bail are now interested in sticking around.

Cross your fingers, but it looks good so far.

I caught the fourth season premiere tonight just as I got home from work - "Adrift" was absolutely fantastic! Jewel and Amanda were top notch - I can't wait to see how Carter gets aboard Atlantis. Next week looks like it's going to be great - if tonight was ANY indication, I think we're in good shape to see a fifth season of SGA.

On a slightly related note - got my copy of ADB yesterday in the mail. Will be checking it out this weekend!

Congrats on the mention in a PC magazine, lets see if there is a Mac magazine and get you in that too.

The good news...
Written by Rachel H on 2007-09-26 11:33:47
is that I got my copy of ADB just now. Delivered right to my desk by the very nice mailroom guy.

The bad news is that I will now have to be a good sister and give it to Andrew on Friday, unwatched and with the packaging still intact.

The slightly delayed good news is that I'm heading to Michigan in a couple of weeks and will be able to pick up another copy in an actual store. That'll be cool.

Congrats on the PC magazine article, you geek you. And good luck with encouraging Hewlett 2.0 to move out. I'll try to get those pictures of Gormans 2.0 I promised over to you this weekend.

*blushes and shuffles feet* Well, I'll tell you what my OB told me. Have Jane take frequent walks and have lots of orgasms (which cause uterine contractions). *blushes again* My gods, I know that sounds like something that Anya from Buffy the Vampire Slayer would say, but I swear that's what my doc told me! Best of luck and Brightest Blessings!

Oh, and congrats on the coolness of making it into PC Magazine. :-) Most cool!
Walking is suppose to do you good...

Sorry, no personal story of how to induce labor here...since I'm single and childless at the moment.

But my little sister managed to go into labor two weeks ahead of time because she was constantly walking around at her work.

Just a thought. :)
Natural Labor Inducing Accupressure poin
Written by ladyniko on 2007-09-25 19:02:15
Ha! I knew my MT training would pay off here. :)

There are certain points on the body that are supposed to help naturally induce labor and I was having a brain cramp trying to remember them today (and my on-line mentor wasn't around when I had to leave to go work on a client.)

The first one is the webbing between the thumb and the index finger, another one the back of the ankle at like the Achilles tendon. There are like 5 total on this page I found about labor inducing techniques. If no luck trying on your own and nothing else seems to work, go see an accupressurist or an MT. Either way, I'm bet Jane would appreciate the pampering. :)

Hope this page helps you out:

Hi David! I have now finished watching the DVD, this was also my first chance to see the movie as I live in Australia; as it was I had to order through Amazon.com and you will love this... it seriously took less then 5 days from them shipping it, to it reaching me in Tasmania! That, believe me is fast! :grin

I am pleased to say I really, sincerely enjoyed the movie I even got some of the less obvious jokes... :p and I laugh out loud in many places. You and Jane and the rest of the guys and gals involved did a great job. Kate was wonderful, Paul was great and Mars...? Well what can I say he is a natural.

And I hope without sounding too presumptuous, that Jane is doing well, I hope for her sake Hewlett 2.0 *you are so cute* makes an appearance soon.

Best wishes. :)
Written by DrArchie on 2007-09-25 00:28:24
WOW that is so cool :) I can't wait for my copy (of both ADB and PC Magazine) to get here :D

All the best with Hewlett 2.0! I was a week early, appeared conveniently at 8.59am and was out of hospital by dinnertime...on the other hand my little sister was two weeks early and born at 3am.

But yeah...good luck with the sproglet!
And congrats on the success!
Written by Kdvb1 on 2007-09-25 00:01:52
Sorry David...congratulations on the success of ADB and the new article!!

Aww! Poor Jane!

:sigh I remember being in the last weeks of pregnancy. My first baby hung around...or should I say clung on tightly for an extra week or two past his due date! He didn't want to come out and I was sure ready for him to make an appearance. I'm sure Jane version 2.0 {smirk} will make an appearance soon. Since she is carrying little sproglett it definately s/b called her version! ;-D

Go on, you know you want to digg the story...

Also, my friend Amy swears by going shopping at a big discount store like Target for getting tardy babies to arrive - she's convinced pushing the cart around is how she 'got things going' with her 3 munchkins!

Congrats on the article in PC - even if it is the dark side. Perhaps Hewlett 2.0 is being considerate and waiting until SGA filming is over?
Babies don't listen
Written by whovian on 2007-09-24 20:05:39
My first one decided to surprise us all and arrive NINE days early! And I was SO NOT READY! I thought EARLY was bad. Of course I have given birth to Night and Day (that's what I should have named them) because daughter number two came EIGHT DAYS LATE! Late is worse, in my opinion. Only because I DID feel like I would be the first woman to be pregnant FOREVER AND EVER. However, the baby always arrives when the baby is ready. I'm thinking good thoughts for ALL of you (even Mars).

GOOD LUCK! And CONGRATS on PC MAGAZINE!!! WHOO HOOO! 8)

Love ADB! Telling everyone I think even would remotely like it about it. Emailed the movie reviewer for the local paper. The commentary rocked!

Congrats on the mention in PC Magazine!

You may not realize it yet, but you will be so thankful the hiatus is here! Babies are exhausting for the daddies as well as the mommies.

No need to say it will be love at first sight. I can already picture the adoring, slightly dazed expressions.

Climbing stairs and sex (not at the same time!) are proven aids to convincing the stubborn tykes to appear. :grin
Magazines and Overdue babies
Written by MarsBolton on 2007-09-24 13:53:15
Congrats on making it into PC Magazine.

As for Overdue babies, I was one of them... Only I decided to torture my mother by staying there for an extra 6 weeks (I was due May 26, born on July 1st). So I am hoping for a quick apperance.
Wish I had that...
Written by Aten on 2007-09-24 13:38:05
I've sadly never heard of PC Magazine. How upsetting. A huge, huge congrats on being featured, though!

Oh, aren't we all looking forward to that appearance? :grin

Don't worry too much about the Sproglett yet - they're probably just waiting until the very last day of shooting to totally disrupt your schedule, because you just know Murphy is an evil jerk & his laws are way too applicable! :p

Good luck to Jane, you, & Mars - fingers crossed that everything goes smoothly! :)

Congratulations on being printed in PC magazine. I read that article when it appeared online in August. Now even more people will read about it! How wonderful for your friend to have spotted you as you walked by.

Aw, Hewlett version 2.0! Will H20 take to water like his/her mum and dad?
Written by Zerocool on 2007-09-24 10:46:58
Ill have to check out the UK edition :grin

Goodluck with Hewlett 2.0. We all have our fingers crossed for an appearence soon.
I know the feeling only too well!
Written by McKayRocks on 2007-09-24 10:26:25
Both my kidlets were late - 10 days the first and 12 days the second! You psyche yourself up for your delivery date and then nothing happens. It is far too comfy and cosy where they are (well for them anyway!). My son (the second one) weighed in at 10lbs 14.5 ozs so whatever you can do to hurry them along the better I would say!

I was lucky enough to see ADB in London before P2 but I am sitting here patiently waiting for my copy, which I ordered from amazon.com (thank god for multi region dvd players!) but apparently I have to wait until the 18th October for it to arrive.

Hope you don't have to wait that long for your arrival!!

Good luck to you both,
Mx

Maybe Hewlett 2.0 is waiting to make a "grand entrance" or waiting for the right moment to surprise you and Jane when your backs are turned.

Yeah PC Magazine.

Having been there, done that I send my best to the lovely J 8) Hopefully it won't be too long.

Congratulations on another Geek accolade :grin My copy of ADB has just arrived in the UK, but I promised the eldest she could open it and watch it with me, so I'm being a good mum and leaving it alone until she is back from secondary school. I really love the fact that the whole family are SGA geeks - to the kids, McKay is their equivalent of mum and dad's childhood devotion to Tom Baker era Dr Who.

I do have one concern though, David. Having seen my extremely laid-back husband go hyper with the sheer adreniline-high of seeing his child born, I hope they don't have to corner you in the hospital with a weighted net and a tranquiliser gun :grin Good luck!

You know you're a geek when you, a Macolyte, get featured in a PC magazine! Congrats.

And I'm so sorry that Hewlett 2.0 is being stubborn. (Hmmm...where did the child get it from?) Should we all start sending you eggplant parmesan from the restaurants that claim success? There's one here in Atlanta that has a 65% delivery rate within two days.

I guess this is God's way of making sure Jane is really ready to go through delivery. :grin

You guys hang in there! It will happen.
Go you!!

That's great^^

Hey, I now it's kinda like "Annoy-woman : The Return" but it's really boring to see our little friends from Quebec giggle and jump everywhere because they've got they own DVD of A Dog's Breakfast (yes, I'm dying with envy...look, I'm green :cry ^^ I know, it's counterproductive). How the Worldwide release go ?

Hewlett 2.0 just wanted to wait to be a Libra! My family is overrun with Libras...there is just something about all those holiday parties, eh?

Many years ago at the end of September, the baby already 10 days late, my husband was driving me around, in our dragster, *on* the beach, trying to bump the baby out. He was at the end of his patience. She wasn't born until the 28th.

Best wishes to you both.
