Kate is over for the weekend (poor woman really needs some friends) and so we cracked open our copy of the A Dog's Breakfast DVD and I've got to say it's a treat! Fox has done a fantastic job with it, right down to the dog bowl image that they used for the actual disk itself. It looks fantastic...but then, I'm probably a bit biased ;-)

Well, I couldn't get my hands on a DVD fast enough, so I bought the movie on iTunes! I have to have the DVD though, especially with all these lovely descriptions of the disc and the menu. That will have to be put off for now since all my money has gone to McKay and Sheppard costumes for my sons! I'm beginning to think Mr. Hewlett is an expensive hobby. But so far, much worth it!  |

i pretty much live on iTunes (a girls gotta have her ipod music!) and i never noticed the music on there. Probably because i never actually looked for it, that really does help in these issues 
It's great to see that the soundtrack and the movie are available on iTunes. As soon as the full ipod is fixed (stupid thing broke in less than a year!) i will purchase the movie for the ipod as well...a dog's life must travel on vacation's with our family as a classic must see while in the car (yes, already a classic here!) |

I like to think that in my own tiny little world, I helped contribute to ADB becoming available at Blockbuster.com. I sent in a few requests for the movie over the past few months.
We loved the movie. Now every time I sweep the spider webs down from my porch, I will think of Patrick.

I started looking for it here in little ol' Nova Scotia, Canada on Tuesday. No sign of it at Wal*Mart or at Blockbuster. I checked at CDPlus and aster having received the look of "you just made that up to test me" the clerk did check the computer. Indeed, Sept 18th release but the movie comes with a Manufacturer level code...which means CDPlus don't got it neither. I will check, but I don't think iTunes Canada does movie downloads, so I will check with Amazon and add on the shipping costs because I really want this movie.
Good news, David, the clerk at CDPlus did know who you were and there was no explanation needed for that part of my quest.
Looking forward to Space Channel realising that there is more to Atlantis than Season 1. Keep up the good work! |

Here in Britain our copy turned up today! Thank god Amazon ship overseas and yes our DVD player plays international DVDs!

I married into a family a VERY picky people. And now I have a VERY picky 13 year old daughter. She notices EVERYTHING! She's just like her father. Anyway, she loved the dog bowl DVD (we love our puppies) and thought the menu screen with the separated Frooties was hilarious. And then we showed it to my husband (the prince of picky...the reigning king and queen are still his parents). Not only did HE also notice but he LOVED how it's done. I think he was expecting something hideous. I mean, I've only been talking about this for a year. He LOOOOVED the movie (and so did my picky six year old daughter)!
So, you may be biased but at least in this case I can say that the movie is perfect inside and out! |

I have now watched ADB 5 times and I laugh at the funny parts everytime. I love this movie.
Sadly I too went searching for the DVD in Toronto here. And I too met with people who work in there who had no clue who David was and even that he did a movie. They all thought I had lost my mind.
Tough when there's such Canadian Talent out there that nobody is aware of. I actually had to say "David Hewlett Rodney McKay from Startgate Atlantis" Even then they looked at me like I had two heads.
Looks like we fans have to educate the world about David Hewlett.

No brainer on series 5. SGA will break all records. Great stories and great self obssessed lines for Mackay. Besides the way your life is going at the moment everything works out (sure you did not sell your soul to the devil last year??)
Congratulations on ADB being recieved so well. Decided I cannot wait for doggypaddle accross the pond so I am getting a copy from Amazon sent via UPS cargo hold.

It is a sad day when we do not support our own talent. The only place that had the movie listed (and was a purely Canadian site) was HMV Canada. The sad part is that none of their stores have it(well the ones I went to here in Toronto), only their online website to order from.
However if you do have an HMV near you (and you live in Canada) I can happily infom that they will ordr it for you and you can have it within a week (And they know who David Hewlett is and that he is on Atlantis... well at least my sales guy did *lol*).
Also the lovely people at Futureshop had no clue who David Hewlett is or the fact he has a movie out called A Dog's breakfast... I kid you not people... I kid you not. And the people at the Best Buy Canada store thought I was barking mad for recommending they get a Dog's breakfast be brought to the store to be sold... I swear the end of the world is near when Best Buy Canada will have obsecure Anime Series (that no one has ever hear dof) on DVD but not A Dog's breakfest!!

I got my copy a few days ago (along with SGA season 3) and watched it as soon as I got the package open! Great Movie, and I loved the Special features too! Some pretty funny stuff in there. Had to watch them first.
You said that you can rent the movie at blockbuster.com, well you can also get it at our blockbuster. My sister came home from there last night and said she saw it there!

While I am waiting patiently for my copy to arrive I checked out the 3 major video rental stores.
ROGERS VIDEO doesn't have it and won't be carrying it even after I really encouraged them to. I was also at BLOCKBUSTER (HALIFAX) yesterday and they don't have it and the sales guy said they aren't planning on gettin it.
The guy at the locally owned VIDEO DIFFERENCE told me I could use the customer suggestion box to encourage them to get it. I even emailed the store owner. Hopefully it will be available somewhere eventually. |

The packaging for ADB is very well done. The dog food dish label is a great surprise to see when you open the DVD case (after checking out the back first, of course!).
Great movie! Great packaging!

Got my copy Thurs. after class in AZ (and definitely needed the laugh after this week). Great stuff! Do have to ask, what was Paul's reaction for a couple of the scenes - and hopefully he's heard how well this puppy is doing as well.
As far as Kate visiting - well my siblings and I couldn't stand each other growing up - but now that we're all adults we're constantly visiting each other, so it's not just you guys! |

A friend of mine surprised me by sending me the DVD of A Dog's Breakfast through Amazon, so I was able to see the extras (I did have the download already). In light of her kindness, I was inspired to make this: My Little Pony custom of Mars, complete with props, to sell via eBay to raise money for Doctors Without Borders. I just want to assure you that I will not make another or keep any of the money made -- I only made it for the charity efforts. Hope you don't mind, but if it's a problem (legalities or whatever), just let me know and I'll take it down!
*Loved* the extras on the DVD, by the way! I'm so grateful to my friend!! I do love the music from the film, too -- it's on my "to buy when the bills are finally paid off" list. |

It arrived in the post yesterday and I imediately stuck it into my laptop to watch it (actually, the sound of it through the letterbox woke me, how tuned in wasy I?), loved it to death. Watched the extras. Then watched it again with commentary (love your mum by the way, some one should give her a medal  ). Then watched bits of it again before I had to rush to work at the cinema, and bugged everythere with 'I GOT IT!' through the cold.
FANTASTIC movie, love it to death and it's interesting to see everyone play character so different to what I'm used to seeing you play. That said, not surprised in the least that you all pulled it off so well.
And as it turns out, everyone is right - Mars really is the star and saviour of the movie. Needless to say, can't wait until you guys come out with the next one.

My lovely copy of A Dog's Breakfast arrived in the mail yesterday! I love the dog bowl disk lable! Totally made me giggle. I screened it for the husband last night, who hadn't been lucky enough to see it in the theater like I did. He loved it, and I laughed and giggled and snickered all the way through. It's every bit as funny on repeated viewings! |
