 Short Peace
September 18th sees the release of "A Dog's Breakfast" on DVD. You can still download the film itself from Amazon.com or Apple's iTUNES, but if you want to get all those extra goodies then you'll want to get your paws on the DVD. Amazon.com has posted a Q&A that I did about the film and also a sneak peek at the behind-the-scenes extras you'll be enjoying with the movie. DVD Snapshot has an interview and a review that dubs us HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!. Locally, Vancouver's Georgia Strait has a nice little blurb about me and the mutt!
Here's a rough (ruff) list of homes for our wayward mutt if you want to actually buy the 'real' DVD from a 'real' store in the 'real' world:
If you don't see it at your local DVD hang-out then make sure to ask them to pick it up!
Point of pride for us DVD renting movie nerds is that A Dog's Breakfast will also be available for rental on Netflix. Please make sure, if you're a member, to rate it, recommend it and review it! Actually, this applies to all websites with the movie available! PLEASE remember my irritating "THREE R'S" and take the time to RATE, RECOMMEND and REVIEW the film. Even if all you can do is leave a comment...please take the time. This is CRUCIAL to the success of the film and keeping people interested! I can't stress this enough, if there was a "capital-capital" letter key on this powerbook I'd be using it ;-)
More good news on the "A Dog's Breakfast" front is that Tim William's beautiful soundtrack for the film should be available in all its glory on iTunes any day now!
I just wish I had more time to savor it! We're shooting the last three Stargate Atlantis episodes for Season Four and there's so much going on! The last episode is non-stop shocking revelation after shocking revelation, unfortunately for me I have to walk and talk you all through every one of them! The end of the season is always a crunch, and this one is proving to be a monster! I am in awe of Jewel Staite and Amanda Tapping. Not only are these two of the smartest, most beautiful and talented space hotties (spotties as they're dubbed), they are shameless clowns who have had me on the floor crying with laughter between (and during) every scene we shoot...this despite choking dust, shifting sets, bruises and fatigue on "Trio", one of the more gruelling shooting episodes we've had! Let's just say that dinner theatre will never be the same, as the spotties and I have been working on some musical dance numbers that are sure to kill our careers, the Stargate magic and sink the franchise! ;-)

Finally, a copy in my town! Although i love Netflix for having it to me by the Tuesday it came out...since there are sure to be no showings at a theatre near me anytime soon, i am just happy to have my very own copy to own. I've now watched my own copy and the copy from Netflix (it was so pristine, I had to "initiate" it, even tho my own copy came first). Brilliant work. I have to say, though, David, that one of my favorite parts was what your mom had to say when she watched the toothbrushing scene. Another favorite part was how Patrick eats his Frooties...I can relate to that, except I just skip multi-flavored cereal all together instead.
And, as a big fan of obscure Canadian films, I want to say thanks for making a comedy, even though it *was* a dark comedy and *was* filmed in bleak weather.

Finally got my copy from Amazon yesterday. All I wanted to do was go home and watch my movie but first I got stuck at work late and then while I was walking home from the train I got hit by some woman who rolled through the crosswalk looking in a different direction from the one she was driving so she could make a right turn on the red light. Needless to say, not in a comedy sort of place by the time I got home. Maybe tonight.

Had to work late last nite but tonite I'm looking forward to watching all the ADB DVD goodies and the movie again of course (I've had an iTunes copy since its release). I LOVE the packaging!!! great job. Speaking of the iTunes copy, that was a GREAT promo tool, I was able to "sell" the movie to friends, just hook up the iPod to someone's TV and instant screening!! a few friends bought their own iTunes copy but most were waiting for the DVD release. Tomorrow I plan on finding out who actually bought their copy 
I also got my copy of SGA s3 and plan on checking all that out this weekend.
Hurrah SGA s4 is almost here!!! now I just have to find a Nielsen box (although I think Tivo & cable recording boxes and iTunes type sales should be counted towards the ratings). Will be doing ALL I CAN to see that SGA gets an s5!!!! | So funny! I loved it!

So, I finally got my copy in the mail and the opening on my side of the mailbox was too small to get the package out!! I had to go to the landlord so that he could tell the mailman the next day to take it out from behind and give it to him so that I could pick it up!! I ordered a copy on Amazon Tuesday for my Dad's birthday, but when I went to Best Buy last night to pick up my copy, it wasn't on the shelf. I had one of the stock monkeys check the system, which said they had three on hand, but when he went in the back to look for them, they were nowhere to be found. I choose to believe 3 little geeks who work there have them hidden, and are waiting for payday so they can buy them.

I really loved this movie. I needed to agree to do some chores for my aunt so she could buy it for me, not the most pleasant things to do. but so worth it. I love your work both on SG1 and Atlantis. Yay, it's finally released! Ok, so I don't actually live in the States and have therefore had to go out and buy a multi-region dvd purely so I can order it from Amazon.com and not have to wait for it to come out in the UK but I really don't care!
I was fortunate enough to see it at the first London premiere and I honestly can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. I am so looking forward to being able to finally show my Dad what I've been going on about since February!
Now I just need to wait for international delivery and I'm all set.

Thanks to DVDpacific, my brother and I have seen the movie two days before the release (and I'm French from France).
The little surprise was french subtitle (I am sure it was for Canadian, but it's ok ) which are pretty good I think.
So, good movie, really great actors (Christopher Judge was so great! Make me laugh a lot!!) . We hope so more movies now!!!

David! I just got finished listening to the commentary and it was wonderful! I love how all of you pointed out the flubs and oopsies and all the great improvising bits. All the ways everyone came and gave their best ideas in doing the movie. And your Mum was a fantastic guest commentator! She pointed out some things that I was wondering about myself.
Everyone associated with this film deserves to be proud of this work.

Got mine today from Amazon. First off, it's such a nice package! The covers, the label on the dvd (dog food, of course), and the menus are so cute. The extras are wonderful. It's so cool you had your mom help with the commentary. That's one I've not seen before!

I made a special Best Buy trip today and after much drama to get two employees to actually find the movie in the back room, I have my hands on my very own copy. And after the first watch-through, I gotta say it's just as fantastic as I imagined. I couldn't wait for Amazon to ship me my copy, so I headed to Best Buy. Made them go get it out of the back as it had yet to be shelved. (Amusingly, the sales guy said he remembered the DVD as he was intrigued by it. Think I got you another sale.)

You know what sucks, How little Canadian Stores support Canadian made movies. Amazon.ca states they will have the movie to ship, with no DvD cover art to figure it out if it is the right one. Best Buy.ca is not carrying it, Futureshop.ca is not as well and the Chapters/Indigo (Major Bookstores in Ontario) is not carrying it as well.

Okay, here's my "evil plan": I find some way to get out to the North End of Wooster, OH next weekend and go to Best Buy. I'll be hunting down blank discs for documents, some music CDs and the ADB DVD. I'll disguise buying the movie as a necessary errand. Brilliant!

Spoke to Paul at Dragon Con earlier this month, he is all excited about the movie coming out also. He signed a couple of ADB posters for auction.

Amazon told me ADB and SGA wouldn't be coming until October, so I put ADB in my Netflix queue...it's sitting at the top, waiting for the release date. Then today Amazon says my order is on its way. I wonder which one will get here first! I'm so excited!

I've never made it to a showing, was at Pegasus 2 in February but couldn't get to the showings then for a few reasons - but no way am I missing the DVD!
Even if it is in Region 1, my laptop (Mac, thankfully) is originally a US one, and multi-region in anycase so I can watch it on here happily enough.
Can't wait to see it, once it gets here, and shall definately do the three R - I've already been babbling about it to anyone who'll listen in real life, but after actually seeing it, you'll bet I'll be on Amazon singing it's praises (hopefully not too off key).

Seriously, the best advice I can give. I wasn't going to give any...but I just had to say this one thing. I have had 2 children, one without an epidural and one with an epidural. It was like night and day. The epidural birth was so much better and easier as I could talk to people and I wasn't just laying there in pain. They can put it in early and administer the drugs later when you need it. (or if you decide you can handle it, they don't have to give you the drugs at all) I didn't get it for my first born as the stupid nurse didn't order it and then said it was too late. I was not a happy camper...I really think it was Nurse Rachett!! Anyway...do what you want of course...but the epidural was wonderful! I actually considered buying the ADB DVD now because I still haven't seen that film (and I'm still unspoiled and luckily don't know any major plot details) and I so want to see all the special features you've been talking about repeatedly!
Ordering the DVD from amazon.com also wouldn't be the problem, I also have VLC which would play this DVD, but I use a Powerbook which has a region-encoded RCP2 CD/DVD drive and I don't dare to hack it. As I also don't own a DVD player that could play region 1 DVDs I will have to wait until the region 2 version will be released - please, please tell me that I don't have to wait another year for this!!!
Apart from all that I'm pretty excited for you! September's obviously far from being a boring month - the ADB release, the season 3 boxset release, you'll wrap shooting season 4 and the season will air on TV, and there's this small matter of a little addition to the family...

Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Almost time for my pre-ordered copy of ADB. The sneak peaks are already having me laughing hard. I better not watch it too late or I’ll wake up the whole apartment complex.
Can’t wait to take ADB to my brother’s in a couple of weeks. He love’s watching British humor movies. I might just pick him up his own copy. His is lucky though because he has satellite and is able to get BBC. 
I understand being busy especially this time of year, since we have too many projects to wrap up before winter. Now David the choking dust, moving stuff, bruises and fatigue sounds more like my job.

Wow. It seems so odd that release week has finally arrived. It feels like we've been scurrying around about this for a while, now. (And I guess we have.) Once again, I have to thank you and Jane for being so willing to let us play around with being marketing people. It's been tons of fun.
I'm hosting a premiere party in my home theater on Saturday. I will give them all access to the computer to order it off of Amazon, afterwards.

Yesterday I received an email from Amazon advising me that A Dog's Breakfast has been shipped (along with my order for Doctor Who - The Beginning since ADB is under the $25 amount to qualify for free shipping). Since I've already downloaded the movie and watched it multiple times, I can't wait to see the DVD extras.
Just to let you know, I took my computer to a couple of parties and had friends watch the movie. Yeah, we're geeks watching a laptop movie at a party! Before you ask, the TV was already in use. I know I recruited some buyers. One person said he thought your movie was hysterical. It's conquering the world one DVD at a time!

This is perfect timing, actually. PapaDuck's birthday is 9/27, and since I'll be ordering him some stuff from Amazon, he'll be getting a copy of ADB. I'll be going the brick-and-mortar route myself, either Best Buy or Borders. So that's two copies purchased by me.

I'm so thrilled that the time is finally here to get the copy of ADB on DVD...and then Amazon does the old bait & switch. I preordered this THE DAY it was available, along with another DVD I wanted. I got the e-mail that 'my order has shipped' and low and behold, when I opened the confirmation e-mail...it said I had Atlantis Season 3 winging its way to me. Not ADB. Not my other DVD. Not that SGA-3 is a bad thing - I'd get that eventually, too....BUT I WANT MY ADB!!!!!

Wow, I think your counter is just about as cluttered as mine. I personally cannot wait for my copy of ADB and was sending threating text messages to my friends who work at Best Buy to hold my copy (as well as SGA Season 3 and Supernatural season 2 ) while I was Toronto or I was going to Murder them slowly and painfully. Or at least make sure that they actually have to pay for their food when they come and pick up dinner from the restaurant I work at.
Also as a former Browncoat it make's my little heart go GLEE! when I see you praising Jewel.

First, of course-- congratulations on release week! You deserve much praise, and Jane deserves many foot rubs. I can't wait to finally see the movie after all the hints, YouTube clips, and squirrel reviews.
Second, though... what is all that on the counter in the background of your pic? You're in the foreground flashing a half-Nixon at all your fans, and behind you, I THINK I spot:
1.) A wine glass with one sip of Chardonnay left in it.
2.) An enormous penny jar.
3.) A wide-mouth beaker filled with guacamole?
4.) Panelling.
5.) One lonely little track light.
