Tiny Shark Bite
Tiny Shark Bite
Had the pleasure of watching The Good, the Bad and the Ugly the other night. What a treat! If you want to see why Clint Eastwood is a star and where Tarantino gets most of his genius from then Sergio Leone is the man to watch. This movie is phenomenal! I've seen it before in bits and pieces, but sitting down and watching the thing properly is an awe-inspiring experience. Speaking of delights...I can't wait to get my hands on A Fish Called Wanda Special Edition DVD. This and Faulty Towers were the big influences I had for A Dog's Breakfast and I can't recommend them highly enough. To me the biggest compliments I received at the screenings were the people who likened the film to John Cleese's stuff...to an uptight British nerd like myself, there is no higher praise!

Almost half way through the "Design of the Dead" script. It's going to need a fair bit of work to get it out of "writer's draft" (which translates as the "I'm not showing nobody" pass!) but I'm really looking forward to pushing ahead with that! The next two Stargate Atlantis episodes "Harmony" & "Trio" are really McKay heavy so I doubt I'm going to have much time to do more than just learn lines and sleep, but even with hiatus, DVD releases and babies fast approaching I'm still very eager to get back behind the camera!

September the 18th is the DVD release (in North America) for A Dog's Breakfast. Jane and Fox have been great about getting me out there for publicity and such, and we're really hoping that the film is well received. Big shout-out to the Dragon Con attendees, keep an eye out for the "Rabid Breakfast Squirrels" who are sure to be pestering the masses about our puppy's DVD arrival! Thanks SO much for all that marketing muscle, now is the perfect time to be flexing! So, please make sure you rate, review and recommend A Dog's Breakfast anywhere you can online and please be sure write about and link to us whenever you can in all your blog/facebook/Myspace pages... and of course buy it for everyone you've ever met as Christmas presents ;-) Sorry we can't be in Atlanta with you...I'll have to get it on the schedule for '08...perhaps with the sproglett in tow? And please be sure to post some pictures for us poor souls who won't be able to come play with the dragons.

All the best!

D!

Gotta love Amazon - they happily took my credit card info and I am now eagerly waiting to get my copy of ADB. Can't wait to see it!
BTW, I have a 2 year old son, who will be attending part of Vulkon Orlando with us this November. Shame SGA isn't represented there...hint, hint.....=)

and one of my favs!
'DONT CALL ME STUPID!' ;)
If you can check out Cleese's film 'Clockwise' I liked it (some don't) there's something about Cleese kicking cars that make me giggle.
Also caught the film 'Next' on the plane home from holidaying in Jamaica..I think its brilliant definately worth a look!

a fish called wanda is awesome!!! I love that movie- michael palins character especially.
David - you were mentioned at Panels all
Written by McGillionFan on 2007-09-03 18:21:00
Especially by Paul today at his own panel. He did a vocal impression of you, talked about how much he liked you (then acted like he lied about liking you lol) talked about ADB's - answered questions, then kissed a bunch of women, and NOT on the cheek. lol

The ADB trailer was also played on the Mega panels and Chris and Paul talked about the movie a bit.

I saw ADB flyers everywere - and a signed flyer you sent made over $500 for charity!

We missed you at the con. Check You Tube later for the Paul stuff. It was really entertaining! We missed you!!!

Hi David. We miss you here at D*C. If you want to see photos of the people you, uh, see everyday, check out my Flickr stream. (Yeah, I don't know why you would, either.) I'll try to find your marketing team to take and post photos that will interest you. :-)

I've always loved Fawlty Towers and hearing that it's an influence on your film just makes me even more excited for the DVD release! Definitely have to pick it up soon as I can and host a party to watch it!!! There are many Stargate and Cleese fans alike at my college :grin

My grandmother actually has all of Fawlty Towers on VHS, so I watched it all one summer and instantly loved it. Good luck with the rest of filming and with the incoming family addition! :)

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO

I am so excited that I am bouncing off the walls. Ouch that hurts. I have been waiting ever so patiently and soon I will be hitting the breaking point. Bounce I hit the wall again. I need my SGA fix. I need the ADB Movie now. The Trailer is great and all but it no longer can hold me. I need the fix bad like when I need my early morning dose of caffeine before I can face the world.

'Is this a piece of your brain?' ;D

Good, Bad and Ugly is one of my favorite movies. I absolutely have a poster with Clint Eastwood with his head in a noose (from the early scene) hanging over my dorm bed.
And in three weeks, I am halting all my plans, dragging everyone and their cat and dog to my room, locking the door and forcing them to watch this awesomeness that they've heard about since I arrived ;D (I already converted a few to SGA) *yay*.
Once you finish DOTD, you do realize that you're going to have to screen it in Austin, right?
ADB and SGA season 4!!!
Written by Kdvb1 on 2007-08-27 23:38:32
Wow! Both of them in the same month...I am SO excited...I really can't wait...really. I'm serious now...I need my SGA fix..lol. I haven't seen ADB yet so I am super excited to see that!

Can you tell I'm excited???
Written by sammy on 2007-08-27 04:51:58
Woohoo! less than a month till ADB! thank god for multi region dvd players!
Hope 'design of dead' is going ok, as i cant wait to see it! it'll be screenings all around again!!!

we'll be premoting ADB at the london film and comic con in london on the 1st of september for you! so if you see Torri Higginson or Andee Frizzell this week, tell them to watch out for us!!!

Hope you manage to get through all Mckays dialogue and still manage to sleep and eat!!!!

Love to you, jane, mars and the little hewlett to be! x

Good movie choices

Saw TGTB&TU at my local museum's theater last year. Great movie - now I get all of those references I've seen most of my life! (It's like finally watching Citizen Kane after watching The Simpsons for ten years.)

Also Fawlty Towers and AFCW are both hilarious!

Still 'workin' them angels' to help promote ADB!

Cute Mars pic too!

My little one was only 8 weeks old when he went to his first memorabilia con. He was strapped to my chest on a papoose, and oblivious to the entire wondrous event!! Even sproglett's can enjoy a day out in the geekyness halls of nerdom!!
In fact, we just attended Collectormania in Glasgow. Sproglett is now a little older, 4 years old and no concept of the words "collectors items, not toys...."
That's just what you need, a little boy screaming for a full scale Terminator robot!!!!!
Ended up in Toys R Us later in the day, and a new Transformer later, said little one was happy as Larry!
They come first, everything else comes second!
Always good to hear from you!

It's not exactly a comedy...
Written by spamco on 2007-08-26 01:52:05
Although there were some parts in the movie that had me in hysterics, mainly because Thewlis played Remus Lupin in HP: PoA & had a line in the movie that was 'I used to be a werewolf, but I'm all right no-OOWWWWWWWWWW!', Naked is probably one of the best British films I've ever seen. I watched it the other day & it was fantastic.
Written by Shawna on 2007-08-25 06:46:04
Now, I adore British comedy. I just watched Hot Fuzz last night. Loved it. Blackadder and some of the others crack me up to no end. But I have to admit that I just don't get Fawlty Towers. Couldn't even get through the first episode. *shrug* Maybe I should try watching a different episode.

Also, I notice the continued use of the plural when referencing your forthcoming offspring. Don't mean to pry. Just saying.
Written by jessie on 2007-08-25 03:15:34
Well, as much as I'd like a fellow geek to descend upon my lovely, sauna loving city...I'd rather you be at home, spoiling your girl. *wags finger* You'll get here eventually. Apparently D*C is a popular. Me? I had no clue until I attended last year. And yes, I am a pitiful soul for not knowing what in the world Dragon*Con was until then. Slowly, I'll meet the SG people. Besides, after meeting the girls last year, the rest of you have quite a reputation to maintain. And if you don't, I'll tell Torri. *nods* She told me to tell y'all that. So you'll be told in spirit.

As for the sproglet word. That's just cute. Close to what my dad called me, kidlet. Sproglet makes me think your baby will end up being like a gigantic frog...thing. *eyes the television* Thank you, Dr. Who for giving more for my mind to contemplate. Just...don't go to sleep with that image in your head. Quite terrifying.

And Mars. Gonna still your pup one of these days. Especially since he eats sharks. Ha, they tremble in fear. Of course, don't think the Shark Week ones would be terrified, but he's totally own the babies. Lemon sharks wouldn't stand a chance.

Can't wait for the DVD to come out. I have it on order. No idea how I'm going to play said DVD, mind you.

Mars is adorkable, just like you. I bet the Spoglett will be too, heh.

Best of luck with the new film and the upcoming new arrival.

Awwww, Mars is so adorable with that tiny stuffed shark in his mouth! What a cutie!

Very intrigued to picture the influence of "Wanda" and "Fawlty Towers" on ADB (haven't gotten to see the movie yet). Somehow, I really can see those fitting with your acting and sense of humor. Just makes me all the more eager to get the DVD! (Fun side note, my brother was going through his geology textbook and noticed a picture of a deepsea vent structure called the Fawlty Towers complex. Gotta love scientists!)

I second the wish for pictures and stories from Dragon*con! All you lucky squirrels have a great time there!

Best wishes, David, for ADB's release, your growing famiy, and your future film projects! Sounds like you've got lots to keep your autumn fun and exciting!

Anxiously waiting for ADB, Season 3 SGA Release, and of course Season 4 to start. Sisters ordered 2 copies of it and I am on the verge of ordering one for myself.

My boyfriend and his best friend are big fans of Clint Eastwood. I think we have every movie that Clint has worked on (in front of and behind the camera) that is currently availible on DVD. And John Cleese is just a classic.

Hope you can make Dragon*Con next year. Heck, I hope I can make it next year since this year fell through on me. Good luck with everything you hav going right now.

To all the squirrels going to Dragon*Con: HAVE FUN!!!

ADB is here in Germany difficult to buy :cry :sigh Friends of mine and me talk every day about the film and promote the DVD release.
Its a pity that we can buy just one DVD per person because of customs!! :sigh

God i love that film. And the Pythons rock. But being British, it's almost a genetic thing to like that type of humour. :grin

Though oddly boyfy hates them with a passion - but loved (i mean really loved) your film when i dragged him to see it....maybe there is hope for him yet!

Yay for Design of the Dead! I can't wait for this!
Ooo how's Starcrossed coming along??

And McKay heavy eppies! Bad for you - great for us! Hee.

Best of luck with the ADB release again (can't have too much luck!) and look forward to seeing it released this side of the pond. ;)

British Comedy!
Written by whatsername34 on 2007-08-24 00:54:15
A Fish Called Wanda is one of the best films ever!

I remember being a teenager, and after watching that, my cousins and I driving down the road and randomly yelling at people how we loved their "Ass when they walked that way"...good times. The summer of all things to do with anything Python related, actors, etc.

Faulty towers. Pure Genius.

Nothing like British comedy.

I am new here, so no one kill me for not knowing this, but I am guessing you might like Shaun of the Dead? One of my fave films ever!

McKay Heavy
Written by Snow_Leopard on 2007-08-23 23:01:26
McKay heavy, hmm, it seems McKay is always talking. Oh wait, I think McKay just like to hear himself talk. I would think that the other chars would want to shut him up for once so they could get a word in edge wise. They could stun him, but that don’t last long enough. How about taping his month shut but then it might be too harsh. (I shouldn’t give Sheppard any ideas). Ok, laryngitis so you can’t talk but then how is Sheppard going to explain why your all going to died in the next 45 minutes if McKay don’t figure out how to get (some alien device) working that will save them in the nick of time. Sheppard talk a lot (ROFL). Military type don’t talk they just shoot at things (LOL). :grin

Ok, I think I’m civil again, NOT.

You haven’t seen “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”? Were have you been David? That’s one of the best of the spaghetti westerns Clint Eastwood did. I’ve been watching Clint Eastwood since I was a kid. I loved watching Eastwood and still do even if it’s an older movie, heck sometimes those are the best. I remember when I was watching “High Plains Drifter” for the first time and I begged my parents to let me stay up and watch the ending. I had cool parents because they did but then again maybe I’m just spoiled. (LOL) :grin

Anyway David truthfully I think your wonderful at entertaining. I’ve been catching up on past movies you’ve done and you do such a wonderful job. I just got done watching “Cypher” and even though you had a small part, you did a great job. The eye freaked me out but you where cool all the same. I loved the movie too. I knew something was up with the double agent thing but I didn’t see that ending until Lacy Lui came in with the wine glasses then I started putting it all together. The writer did a good job with the set up. 8)

I do love Nigel Bennett, I remember him from “Forever Knight”. I used to watch “Forever Knight” heck, I’ve seen most all the episodes three or four times but I don’t remember you as a guest star in “Dead Air” episode, It was before I knew you though and now I kick myself for not keep the episodes I had taped. Guess I’ll have to rent it just to see you again.

I write too much, me the one who hates to write. Well, off to bed. Keep up the good work David and really I like hearing you talk even if you have to work twice as hard to learn your lines. McKay has to entertain us unless he is hanging upside down. Oh wait, been there done that try something else demeaning. Ok, Ok enough of the sarcasms I’m going, I’m going. ;)

Night!

Can't wait for the international release downunder Of ADB and as much a we'd all like to see more movies from you soon, Family comes first. Being a father is easy. Being a Dad is an enormous task. Written by watcher652 on 2007-08-23 20:52:11
Aw, sproglett! What a cute name.

I knew it! That scream was sooo John Cleese from Fawlty Towers! You even looked like Cleese, all wide eyed and stunned.

I'm one of those Rabid Breakfast Squirrel going to DragonCon! Sorry you can't make it this year but we'll do our best to promote ADB. (It would be even better if you can get us a good bmp/jpg of the dvd cover to make flyers with!)

Please try to work DragonCon into your schedule next year. Maybe you can convince the writers it's time for that "McKay doesn't speak" episode!

But, OMG! "Rabid Breakfast Squirrel".....if I had enough time I would make that shirt!!! So far I have 2 shirts already....

Anyone coming to DC look for me! I'll have my name on one of my Squirrel shirts (gray with my logo squirrel and ADB poster on it!) and on my badge! I'll also be wearing a pink/white "Convention Squirrel" shirt, a "Starflee Academy" shirt, and I'm still working on getting a DAWN costume together. Ugh, last minute planning.

David, you just made my day saying you would put DC on the list for next year. I LOVE YOU! (Only as a fan Jane, only as a fan!)

If you make it to DC next year, I will beg/borrow/steal/whatever in order to make it there.

A Dog's Breakfast Breakfast?
Written by rosiewook on 2007-08-23 19:35:21
Oooh, maybe we should have a "Dog's Breakfast" breakfast at the con! .. Oh Rooooosiewooooook ...

Wow. If only you'd come up with this idea earlier! Hmmm. I wonder if Marcia would agree to stumble downstairs early to let us host some sort of teaser event with bagels, or something. This would, of course, result us in needing to go get bagels. And come up with an actual panel. Ugh. Why didn't you have this idea earlier?! :grin

Well, maybe just us squirrels can gather for breakfast?

Sorry. This is a discussion for the boards.

David. Go. Take care of your life. We will handle the publicity at DragonCon. But we want to see you down here next year, most definitely! Again, with the whole army of available babysitters, should you wish to go have fun at the con. ;)

And what are you doing reading this? Go write something!

Wow! Half way through script for Design of the dead! I hope that works out for you to.

LOL

By the way, in case you didn't read my review, I have to tell you that ADB was *way better* than A Fish Called Wanda -- so there! :P (And this coming from someone who's been a Python fan since she was 5!)

I am eagerly awaiting the release! I used to watch 'Fawlty Towers' every Sunday night before 'Doctor Who' in the 80's. If I begged my parents to let me stay up that late. And they usually did and watched with me and my little sister...ah, those were the days....Altough come to think of it, we probably watched with them.

I know if I mentioned The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to my parents it would bring back many happy memories. It was the year after their wedding and they were in Malta - my dad was staioned there at the time if I remember correctly. They saw it every night for a week and still like to watch it when it's on the TV even now. :)

Me, I'll stick to Wanda and eagerly wait for the release of ADB. :grin
