Spent the week with pretty much the entire Atlantis team, who were in every day setting the scene for the big "Kindred" two-parter. The stunt and FX work on Friday was impressive and I've got to say there's some great fight stuff coming up...though not for me surprisingly. The fight choreography that I saw Jason rehearsing looks great. Seems he'll be going toe to toe with an SG1 classic, and I can't wait to see THAT go down! Heard the pitch for the season cliff-hanger, which sounds wild! Trust me when I say that it's definitely going to get people's attention...from the tidbits I've heard anyway! That said Mallozzi could just be messing with me...he likes to do that.
Damnit Jim, it's true! And I'll make no "Bones" about it! McKay would be the perfect Mccoy in the new J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie...and it works perfectly with the Stargate Atlantis season which stops shooting in October...as far as I'm concerned it's a no-brainer...now I'm just going to hold my breath, sit by the phone and wait for it to ring! Hello, J.J? ;-)

bouncing Written by Mirth on 2007-09-14 09:01:40 Know what you mean about big bouncy people scaring the little people. I adore bouncy castles. Keep thinking about getting one and keeping it up all the time but as a smoker I just know one day a very drunk and very sad person will exit thier deflated castle. |
It could work... Written by Captain Peregrine on 2007-08-29 15:24:03 My sister and I have been comtemplating (sp?) an entire SGA Star Trek movie and we've got it mostly figured out. McKay as McCoy, Beckett as Scotty, Grodin as Spock, Teyla as Uhura, Sheppard as Kirk (obviously), Ronan as some bad-ass alien dude, and Zelenka as Chekov with Weir dreaming the whole thing up. I think it could work... And I love trampolines, but I usually end up hurting myself... which sometimes only makes them that much more fun. And you got yourself a netted-in one, so perfect! And as for the video clip--I took High School Spanish, so I just about died I was laughing so hard. I didn't get the video the first time I watched the second clip so I'm going to go rewatch it WITH video and see if that helps. lol I preordered ADB about a month ago and am eagerly awaiting its coming in the mail along with SGA season three. I can't wait! So excited. And I cannot WAIT for SGA season 4. Squee! Okay, before I make a complete fool of myself, hugs and hellos from Minnesota (the cold-hot-not-so-hot-not-so-cold-can't-make-up-its-bloody-mind state) CP |

re: Chris Judge with Vulcan ears Written by Sonstar on 2007-08-20 19:54:39 I see Chris Judge as a great Klingon baddie. As for McKay/McCoy. I can see that if you can do the southern accent. McKay EMH. I can see that. Too bad there wouldn't be one in the new trek movie. Here's hoping you get the part! |

Your Great Recommendations Written by OatmealFairy on 2007-08-18 16:59:22 So I was babysitting half of my usual 'crew' (a 5 mo. old girl) and decided to watch some TV while she napped. And what do I happen upon? Jekyll, and not only that, but their doing some kind of free 'teaser' of BBC. So I watched maybe 20 minutes of it (it was pretty awesome) and the baby woke up. So I took her back into the bedroom I was watching TV in, and she started watching it. It occurred to me, maybe I shouldn't be watching it with children in the room seeing as it's a dark show. So I turned on Spongebob and she started screaming. I turned it back to Jekyll, and she calmed down again. This kid is a good judge of entertainment, it seems. |
Er.. if my comment actually goes through Written by TheSprklnEmerald on 2007-08-18 00:27:38 Just ignore my last comment if/when it shows up. It's not who I thought it was. Sure looked like it though! Weird. |
That's Joel Bissonnette!!! Written by TheSprklnEmerald on 2007-08-18 00:22:47 ARGH! Joel needs to be updating his IMDB page and such. Was he in more episodes? I don't have HBO! I need screen caps for the website!!!! Oh right. Um. Looks like fun in the trampoline. Can't wait to see where we can see the Fox interviews. And am completely psyched for the DVD!!!! Yay!!! I don't think McKay would be a good McCoy, but Hewlett might. :D **hugs** |
Jekyll!!!! Written by Auliya on 2007-08-16 23:37:27 I was a Hex fan until it ended so dramatically bad (sp? on dramatically?) Anyway, was pleased that it would be replaced by another show with some 'horror' factors. I love Jekyll! So much better for my Saturday night. The actor is great and there is something sexy about that Hyde...does that make me weird?...Hello? |
Too. Much. To Comment. Written by Jill_Ion on 2007-08-16 23:34:21 Wow, that's a lot to think about! I'm going to have to sit down and ponder everything before responding. Wait. I'm responding now. Crap. Well, I was showing ADB to my hubby yesterday, and was pondering (then) about whether to buy the DVD since I already have it on my video iPod and can watch it on my TV with my techno-thingy converter. (Can you tell I've worked in multimedia for almost 20 years?) But lots of cool documentaries and other stuff? Man...you make me wanna spend money like you were someone cool enough to spend money on! Gonna show ADB to a few other friends too, and am talking it up whenever I can. Spreading the love in Texas! eddy P.S. Just saw over on YouTube your acceptance speech for McKay (nice of you to step in since he's in another galaxy and all) for the "Spacey Award." [B]"In your face, Jack Bauer!["/B] was probably one of the funniest things I've heard since watching ADB yesterday. Though you might want to go visit Rodney for a bit if Jack hears what you said. |

Bones! Written by Leigason on 2007-08-14 17:40:25 McKay as McCoy? Absolutely! In fact we've started to put the idea out there on Chevron One already. Go David Go! (Apologies for the badly photoshopped body that found its way onto your neck. ) |

Written by Shawna on 2007-08-14 16:43:38 LOL! I think the fact that I completely understood that first video, having not taken Spanish since junior high, proves its point. The second video stubbornly refuses to load more than 14 seconds. You could be Bones ("McKay", "McCoy": coincidence?) and McGillion could be Scotty (hey, he even sort of looks like him...except much better), which only leaves...oh, but by that time they may as well change the name of the movie. ...although now I'm picturing Chris Judge with Vulcan ears and am amused. And oh, yes, do blog about HP when you finish up. There's just so much to say. |

Jumping Monkey Written by Snow_Leopard on 2007-08-14 13:51:15 McKay high on sugar and caffeine, could mean double, double toil and trouble; fire burn, and caldron bubble (caldron referring to David’s stomach). Glad you had fun David even after the hesitant comment on twitter about having to go. Haven’t seen The Last King of Scotland yet but it’s on my Netflix wish list (long list). Yes I’ll have to admit I own a copy of 1941. Better hurry up the read Harry Potter before someone tells you the ending. I’m still reading and I have to tell my friends and co-workers who have finished the book, shhhhh when they want to discuss the book in front of me. |

movies and more movies Written by Linz on 2007-08-14 01:09:22 Seems like even with the busy schedule you've had, you are watching a lot of shows and movies! As for the Hills Have Eyes remake... I wasn't that all impressed either with the "horror porno" scene and the music made my head hurt. Plus it was hard to believe that the guy who plays the M.E. on CSI NY is a blood thursty mutant. |

It's a miracle! Written by Aten on 2007-08-13 11:31:05 I understood a good 90% of what that first guy was singing, and I forgot most of my meager Spanish! I've been to one baby shower in my life. Even though I wasn't the only kid there (because I still was a kid at the time), it was a bit...how should I put it? Weird? I wish there'd been a trampoline. Still, the last time I went on one of that size, the other two kids on it sent me flying a good six feet up! |

Glad you had fun, and now that I think of it, you would make a perfect Bones :D I hope you get the role :D :D :D that would be TIGHT! Well can't wait for new Atlantis episodes, keep up the amazing Work DH!

Clips! Written by rac76 on 2007-08-13 10:38:14 Thanks, David, for the clips. The "Goodfellas" was the best! Can't get that, and the song that was used in Conchords clip out of my head! Very funny stuff! |
Written by Fraggledragon on 2007-08-13 08:37:02 Hello again, OK, I had to look up Flight of the Conchords, and they are great! What a great line!!! See you later Fraggledragon |
McCoy/McKay Written by ladyconure on 2007-08-13 07:30:43 I can see that. I can visualize McKay saying "He's dead, Jim" as you are dragging this hapless individual to the Ancients Ascending machine and "quirky" him back to life just before he ascended.. Yeh, that'd be cool. There'd have to be a bit of the McKay-ness in the McCoy character. You GO BOY! |

Written by Zerocool on 2007-08-13 04:10:15 Im not really sure we have baby showers over this side of the pond or bridal showers come to that matter! I think we're missing out on something. As I understand it they are both a gathering for ladies hell bent on imparting stories of their birth experiences/ wedding day horrors. Men at a baby shower? Next thing you'll be convincing us that the guy is actually expected in the room during the birth Oh and by the way how's the SGA Vid contest judging going...not that Im nervous or anything |
Written by Squonk on 2007-08-13 03:37:25 Ooo, S4 just sounds better and better. It sounds like the ADB DVD is going to be wonderful - just hurry up and release it in Britain already! And hurry up and read Harry Potter too - you're gonna love it! I was quite baffled by that first video, till it got to the English bit i have to say! (Hey gimme a break, we didn't do Spanish at my school - and as i did German, i found the French one a bit confusing too....) And i have to agree - you would make the perfect McCoy, and he isn't that far removed from McKay anyway. Both snarky and bad tempered. Only trouble is McCoy practises that voodoo science that McKay so disapproves of! |
1941 Written by nunshavingfun on 2007-08-13 02:00:07 1941 was pure crack. Just. So insanely good because it was just crack. Like you smoked some opium in the 1930s and it just backfired. It's sad that I even own this. |
Gillian Anderson rocks! Written by HelmutDarling on 2007-08-13 01:33:59 If you look for more brilliant work by her, try the latest BBC version of Bleak House. She was awesome as Lady Bored-to-Death ... uhm, no, wait, Lady Dedlock. That's her. *nods* The miniseries per se was a good watch - great characters, wonderful actors and scenery. And it's glad to see that you're having so much fun :-) They should have a trampoline on Atlantis, shouldn't they? |
Oh snap, I forgot. Written by spamco on 2007-08-13 01:20:40 As a Harry Potter fan...you must watch this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=Tx1XIm6q4r4 *thumbs up* It's catchy. |
Thanks for the Clips! Written by slbrannen on 2007-08-12 23:52:13 Hey Hewlett, It has been a spell since the last update but it was worth the wait. Thanks for the laughs! Good for you for hitting the trampoline! It doesn't take much to imagine what that might have looked like! The Spanish love song link made me laugh so hard I almost cried. Oh man! That is just priceless... Its particularly cathartic for someone who has taken almost 3 years of Spanish and is only limited to the basic phrases. |
Written by spamco on 2007-08-12 23:34:48 Y'know, your advice about trampoline jumping reminds me so very much about my friend's advice about DDR: don't play before OR after eating ice cream & drinking soda. ZOMG, Harry Potter. Those two books made me cry the most. & the 5th one, because of Sirius. But the 7th one...whoo, absolutely fantastic, you'll be surprised at what happens. But overall, other than the last 2 books, Prisoner of Azkaban's my favorite. Mainly because Remus Lupin is made of win & chocolate. Enjoy the last two books! |
JAJAJA Written by Masterchica on 2007-08-12 23:33:20 It is actually really funny, and is funny because is true!! He seems to know more spanish than any american I ever meet. PD. Im mexican and sadly there are few fans here, but Stargate Atlantis is a big hit in spain |
*laughs hysterically* Written by krysalys on 2007-08-12 23:08:22 I guess I should be proud of myself that after 16 years, I remember some of my 3 years of conversational Spanish from high school. You know, while you'd be a most excellent Dr McCoy, I really think you should be pimping Paul out for the role. Poor man could really use the work, you know? And anyway, he's got his brother to mine for the medicalese lingo... ------}-@ |
Written by MdGateFan on 2007-08-12 22:41:17 Soda and cupcakes? Talk about sugar high. No wonder you were having so much fun. That poor kid looks like he wants to get out of there and away from the crazy old guy acting like a kid. (kid looks to be the age when anyone over the over 20 is old) Looks like you were having fun though. |
Stuff and more stuff, lol! Written by Tigereye on 2007-08-12 21:16:44 I'm glad you thought the baby shower was fun. The trampoline looked like it was anyway! When and where for the interviews? Do we get to see or hear them? I really need to get cable 'cause I can't wait to see all the great episodes you've been talking about. I hope you don't mind if I put a link to your blog on my Fan Forum? I would LOVE to see you as Dr McCoy!! I think you'd be perfect for the part. |
Written by Lalune on 2007-08-12 21:08:25 Having guys in baby showers is like having them in an observation room - all the baby talks happens there (including the Too Much Information pieces - even for me, new aunt of a 5 months old)and the ladies sure are watching for their reaction. Just discorvering all your work on this website and I see I got a lot to catch on! I've been a SG1 fan for a while and Atlantis, funnily enough, didn't end up being a show I wanted to watch because I sincerely truly deeply hated McKay (for the 1.5 episode I watched while zapping). But now he's my favorite caracter (yes yes, even Joe's hair can't beat that) - one of the tastier caracter of the serie actually, thx to the acting you make David to make him look so arrogant, so full of himself yet so funny and vulnerable. Having this blog open is sure a terrific gift to fan to be able to get very fresh news, learn about and from you and share with you on your work and life. So thank you!! It IS really fun going through all this stuff. And this is how I learned about this ADB movie of yours and from the previews, can't wait to see it! Must have been a really fun and thrilling project to do. I will also do my best to make an official squirrel out of myself (shouldn't be to hard - I am a sucker for that kind of movie). Thx again for this blog, thx for sharing what you do so well (and with passion we can tell) and all the best for the coming baby!! Cheers! Mél xx |
Written by Becky S. on 2007-08-12 20:45:37 Where I live, baby showers are still a woman's thing - no guys come to them. As for the games, I hate the games that are played at showers, I would have joined you on the trampoline. Much more fun in my view. But glad you enjoyed your time there. Season 4 does sound better and better all th time - unless a ceratin Mr. Mallozzi is messing with everybody...and I wouldn't put it past him ;-) Can't wait for the DVD of 'A Dog's Breakfast'. Everything sounds wonderful! |
BBC America suggestions Written by Sweeneybird on 2007-08-12 20:18:06 I'm sure you're already hip to the coolness that is BBC America's Life On Mars, but if not, for goodness' sake check it out! Wish I had one of those Written by px7555 on 2007-08-12 19:31:18 Wow, a trampoline with a net to catch you so you don't fly off. Wish they'd had those when I was back in high school. Still remember falling off! Congrats on the baby shower. I've never seen guys at any I've been to, but Rachel's sounded superb. Can't wait for the ADB DVD. ONly a month and a few days to go. Hope you still plan on a watch-a-thon with folks. Hmm, McKay as McCoy..... |
Written by Fraggledragon on 2007-08-12 19:26:13 Nice to hear from you again! You are going to LOVE Jekyll, it was one of the best series this year on the BBC. Very good stuff. Can not wait to see ADB! Very excited! See you later! Fraggledragon |
yaaay Written by Leishkin on 2007-08-12 19:19:16 In my experience baby showers are a lot freakier than that, with weird 'guess the baby's sex' and 'measure the mum's belly!' games. Glad Jane's was slightly less kooky - I swear if someone ever tries to measure MY belly, pregnant or not, they're in for a slapping! FoTC is brilliant, isn't it? I'm so glad those guys are finally getting some well-deserved world-wide love, they were in Melbourne for the comedy festival a few years back and are just the sweetest guys ever. Jemaine even gave me a free CD (perhaps he was trying to take me out for a kebab? guess we'll never know) Check out his movie 'Eagle Vs. Shark' too, I'm sure it'll have the same charm as the conchords Leish xo P.S - good luck with J.J. I reckon you're a shoe-in. P.P.S - Australia sends its love - send ADB over with Joe in October, will ya?! |

Written by stillwaters on 2007-08-12 18:33:40 Nice form there on the trampoline! I kept thinking about Time Traveler's Wife as a possible screenplay, trying to figure out how they'd manage the timeline jumps. I loved the book though, the romance of it really touched me, so I was perfectly willing to suspend my disbelief on the fuzzy science. |
Showers...Loads of fun for guys Written by rosiewook on 2007-08-12 18:15:17 It's hard to pull off a good "couples" shower. It somehow still ends up with the girls giggling and cooing over all the cute baby stuff and the guys huddled together trying to think of manly topics to counteract the estrogen. A bit like reverting back to junior high dances. Still. Trampoline. Nice diversion! Last King of Scotland was brilliant. I really enjoyed it. Not entirely sure how you got through a second viewing of 1941, though. You're brave! Dang. September 18th is going to be a brilliant day! |

Shows, ADB review, i'view request Written by WolfenM on 2007-08-12 17:30:14 Glad the shower wasn't torturous for you! (Goddess knows some of the ones I've been to were!) Been checking out the Traders clips, and totally adore Grant! But there's only one season on DVD! *pout* And very little info online that I can find. Now I'm bummed. Is there someone we can petition to get it available as downloads on Unbox? Okay, on to the thing you really care about -- as promised, my review of A Dog's Breakfast for Sequental Tart is now up. So now, once again, I will be a shameless hussy and beg for an EMAIL interview. (I meant every word I said above, though, regardless of whether you do one or not. Honestly, would I be this insistent if I didn't love your work? Not bloody likely!). And if you're understandably reluctant to give out your email to what may appear to be a "crazed fan", maybe Joe Mallozzi would be willing to act as a go-between? (I already have his email, and he mine, from when I interviewed *him* ^_~ ...) You'd be hard-pressed to find a more appropriate webzine audience for "ADB attention-seeking" than [i]Tart[i]'s. wolfen @ sequentialtart.com or wolfenm @ tampabay.rr.com *Does a Grant Jansky impression* Pleeease? HECTIC HEWLETT? Written by LogicSequence on 2007-08-12 17:07:19 Wow, you have been busy! We noticed you'd been a bit quiet the last few days . Glad you had fun at Rachel's shower! That poor child looks scared though... *gives the look* What did you say to him? Hmm? J/K The trampoline looks fun! Kinda orb like, now imagine if it was springy on all sides! Talk about not drinking soda beforehand! Heh, Mallozzi messes with you too? It's nice to see he doesn't just do it to us blog readers! Damn him and his cryptic yet tantalizing responses! I'm getting excited about the ADB DVD! Only 5 weeks away! ADB and Atlantis season 3 all on one day, W00T! No sleep that night it seems. AND south park season 10 comes out this Tuesday, AND so does Serenity the 2 disc collector's set! DVD-O-RAMA in the next few weeks. I didn't care for the hills have eyes that much either. Though it reminded me very much of Hostel, which was another of those "torture porn" movies. Well, at least in that one the main character get's some revenge. It was less about suspense and shock and more about blood and gore... Gotta have a balance! So did you check out Flash Gordon on SCIFI this weekend? I'm reserving judgment until i see a few more episodes. It seemed a bit... What's a good word, not corny... Well yea, a little too far on the corny side, and i kept thinking to myself, how can the stretch this out for more than one season? But we'll see, i've been pleasantly surprised before. Oh, and Star Trek.... YOU HAVE TO! How uber cool would it be to see you as McCoy? I mean come on! You ARE perfect for the role! He's dead Jim! Not too many lines either! Though i am a bit scared regarding the rumors of the movie's plot... A prequel? Young Kirk and Spock? Careful J.J.! Anyways, nice to hear from you as always, take some time for yourself! Relax! Take a load off! Can't save the universe if you're out of energy! Later David! |
Written by dpainter on 2007-08-12 17:07:04 Hey! That would be cool, David! Only... I'd advise against holding your breath. It could take awhile for them to get around to calling you and lack of oxygen is bad for the brain... |

The trampoline looks great fun, though I prefer bouncy castles. And no, going on after food and drink is not recommended. Jekyll is much cool, no? I was hoping it'd make it's way over there Hewlett for McCoy!! Although it might get a tad confusing. Anyways, I thought you didn't do medical stuff... Love! Helen x |
Written by dgustavson on 2007-08-12 16:58:15 Are you really trying to get the part of Leonard "Bones" McCoy in the new ST movie? In a way, I hope you do! I've always been a huge fan of the original series. And I'm glad you enjoyed the secret ritual of the baby shower. I usually try to hold back from sporking out an eye when I have to attend one of those things. There's only so many party games you cam play. ;-) |
Huh? Written by JintosNanna on 2007-08-12 16:53:43 What? That's confusing! |
