Mr Don Loughman with Our Awards and Sandwiches!
Mr Don Loughman with Our Awards and Sandwiches!
A Dog's Breakfast has just won Best Feature and Best Actor (David Hewlett....me!) awards at the Stratford-Upon-Avon film festival! I always thought that Shakespeare would have been a fan - now we've got the marble statuettes to prove it!

Thanks so much to everyone at the festival especially Samantha who were instrumental in getting our puppy out there and being so enthusiastic and supportive of the film. As well a big thanks should go out to Mr. Don Loughman (Jane's Dad!) who was kind enough to attend the screenings, schmooze with our fine audiences and accept our awards. Jane and I were unfortunately tied up with filming and editing and were thus unable to attend (Booo! Still, someone has to save the universe!). Stratford sounded like such a great festival and I really wish we could have been there to take part. Thanks so much to all of you who did make the screenings for making it such an award winningly good time!

Next up? Jane will be showing our puppy to the 150,000 attendees of the Glastonbury Music Festival! She claims that they want to screen the film for music weary fans - I'm convinced that she just wants to relive her misspent youth with the latest Brit-pop rock-stars ;-)

Thanks again and all the best!

D!

Congrats on the wins :grin Jane's daddy is adorable. I'm jealous about her being at Glastonbury. Think she'd want to fly through Charleston SC & stuff me in her suitcase? ;)
Congrats!

Well done on the wins! No contest. Am curious as to what happened at the Spacey Awards. Also, still wondering if A Dog's Breakfast will be available on Amazon?
Written by dutch eowyn on 2007-06-03 16:57:14
Congrats on the awards!

And if you haven't found it yet, A dog's breakfast is listed on the following page:

http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/performance.aspx?id=196

At the bottom of the page is the 'Cinema field' program, and A dog's breakfast is listed for Friday 22nd, and it's in impressive company too! Goodness yes...

I hope Jane gets a chance to actually watch some of the performances on stage, because she's sure in for a treat *envies*

Friday, in between 300 and Hot Fuzz - good positioning!

Very slight chance we might be going, depending on whether work decides we need to make an appearance or not - looking at the line-up, yeah, jealousy is totally allowed...

congratulations.
And continued success.

Good on ya, you guys deserve it.

I just looked at the line-up of who's playing at the Glastonbury Festival...dude, Amy Winehouse? The Fratellis? The Chemical Brothers? Modest Mouse? The Kooks? Lily Allen? THE MAGIC NUMBERS?! BRIGHT EYES?! (I could go on as I continue scrolling down the page...) Completely awesome, I'd love to see these artists in concert. I would so party with them. =]
WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I do hope that Jane's dad sent a doggy bag of sandwiches to the real star of the film. To be shared with his girlfriend Lucy of course.

Let's hope that this win means that Mars will now be getting some financial reward from his acting debut.

Now all he needs is to get a little part on Atlantis. Maybe when his Uncle Paul comes back full-time.

Help Mars save Carson
Hooray!

Congrats to everyone involved!

So nice to see that Don, Duke of Squirrel, is doing well. It's good to have that global network to help you gather all the kudos you will continue to generate.

Good luck with the techno-babble!

Your totally spoiling the Brits with screenings! The rest of the world is getting envious. I luuuurve Glastonbury! More than music its the most hippie place I know. Bring on the hugs and erm..free lovin' ;) :p
Shame about twitter BTW could it be it rejects messages that are too long from a mobile? (not that Ive really tested it)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow! TWO awards! That's fantastic! Best actor was a given, but Best Feature too? Impressive! Sure, us fans adore ADB, but for it to get such recognition at festivals is really great to see. Good to know the rest of the world can appreciate the masterpiece that is A Dog's Breakfast. :grin

Party in the Tree! Nuts and champagne for all!!!
Big Giant fluffy Congratulations!

:grin
I'm so happy and proud of you and all the folks that made the film possible.

Maybe one of these days I'll get to see it.
When it comes to Indianapolis... I'll be dragging every single person I know to see it. I'll rent one of those big ol police wagon things and just throw people in the back.
"Wait, what have I done?"
"Nothing, you're being rewarded for being a good citizen... You're going to see A Dog's Breakfast!"
I'll shut down every place of business and we'll all go together.
hhmmmmm, I think maybe I'm setting my sights a little high.
Whadda you think?
Yeah, maybe just me and my boyfriend, and my sister, and his brother, and my neice and his nephew.
Yeah, that'll work :)

Congrats again David!
(Hope Mr. Don Loughman ate one of those sandwiches for you and one for the future Mrs. David Hewlett. Or at least wrapped some up in plastic wrap for you :p
Always!
Amanda
Many Congratulations...

On winning Best Feature and Best Actor! Of course, none of us are particularly surprised by this, but we are all very pleased for you, Jane, and everyone who worked so hard on this project! I knew it would do well when I saw where it was on the program (one expects these things to end on a high note!). Jane's Dad looks like he was having a grand time (and you can see he's proud of his daughter and future son-in-law, and their accomplishment!). As others have said, start clearing the mantel -- here's to lots more awards to keep those two company! Again, congrats to all who made your puppy Best in Show!
Well I already said this but..
Written by willowscat on 2007-05-30 23:30:48
Congrats! David (Jane and the mutt).

Haven't seen the film ('cause you haven't screened it here in Australia *pout* *hint* ) but I hear it really is deserving, and I already know you are a great actor so no surprise in your win!

Yay! :grin
Written by WolfenM on 2007-05-30 23:23:54
Omedeto!! :D

Of course, none of us are actually surprised you won! But then, I suppose we might be just the tiniest bit biased ;P

You realise, though, this only makes those of us who haven't gotten to see ADB but who are attending Dragon*Con all the more eager to convince you to come to the con too!! Pleaaaase?? Yoroshiku onegai shimasu!!
The good looks run in the family
Written by Jan on 2007-05-30 22:39:02
Aww, check out Jane's dad! I imagine he's holding the statues because DH and Mars are distracted by the sandwiches just visible in the background...

Congratulations all around!
Congratulations!

Congratulations on your well-deserved honors! And awwww, look at Mr Don Loughman-in-Law with the awards. :-) I hope he had a blast schmoozing with the fans.

Great news on Glastonbury, too. That should be some fantastic exposure for ADB. I hope we'll get to see some pics of Jane up to her knees in mud and grinning like a loon.

And yeah, Twitter ate a couple of my posts last week too. *kicks it hard*
Congratulations!!

That's fantastic news. I haven't been able to see the movie yet but I've seen your other work so I'm sure it's well deserved. Congratulations to all involved!

I just think it's great that family is so involved in this project. You've got your fiance, future father-in-law, dog, sister and so on - not to mention people you're not related to that you seem to treat like family.

I think it's just wonderful and you all deserve every success.

As others have said, this honor is sure the be the first two of many!
Congrats!

Glastonbury?

OMFG!!

That is so AWESOME!! I'm not kidding, that's amazing! The exposure could be HUGE, depending of course on who is on stage at the same time and how drunk people are lol!

If it weren't for the fact I don't like mud, HATE chemical toilets and most importantly the festival sold out within 20 minutes of the tickets going on sale (no joke) I'd totally be there!

Oh wow, congrats on pulling that one out of the hat, as well as your awards. :grin

So, I said that in the comments for the original post already, but twice is better than once I guess:

Congratulations! I haven't seen the film yet (*cough cough* ;)), but I know that you (and Jane and Mars and everone else who contributed to it's creation) deserved these awards 100%! :)
I squeed a lot when I heard the news - and even more when I saw the pic of Jane's Dad with the awards! This is so cool!

First Stratford-upon-Avon, next: The World! Speaking of which, I can't wait for the DVD, so that I can finally watch this film, too. :grin

So twitter ate your posts? It killed one of mine, too. Net's generally acting a bit weird lately. :roll

Congratulations on winning the awards at the SUA Film Fest. I went with my mate Wendy to the Thursday showing of the film and we met up with some cool squirrels whilst there. Samantha was a really nice lady who made us all feel welcome, and we had a nice chat with her before the showing. :grin

And it was brilliant to meet Mr Loughman again, to say Wendy and I were shocked that he remembered us from Pegasus 2 is a slight understatement. :eek

Anyway, I really enjoyed seeing the film for the third time and am now waiting for the DVD release in the autumn - the flyers Amararti produced went like fire at the London MCM Expo last weekend. 8)
YAY!
Written by 11nine73 on 2007-05-30 15:10:58
I've been checking the festival's site obsessively, looking for news on how you did.

Well done David. Congrats to you, Jane and Mars. Clear your mantlepiece, cos it's the first couple of many I'm sure.

Pity you couldn't come over. Never mind, I'll have a beer on your behalf :p

And now Glastonbury! Tell Jane to pack plenty of sweaters and a pair of wellies. The British Summer is in full swing (ie it's raining lots so she's in for some bad weather (watch it be gloriously sunny know I've said that).

Love n hugs,

Congratulations on the win's! And Jane is so lucky to be going to Glastonbury! That festival is on my list of things to do before I die (Right after San Diego Comic Con and right before the now disbanded E3)

Though she should watch out because I heard through the rumor mill that a certain Tenth incarnation of a Time Lord might also be attending.

And i forced my boyfriend to attend (that took some doing i can tell ya!) and he loved it!!
He's still talking about it in fact - and that never happens with movies, even ones he wanted to see!

And Samantha really was a star!

Glastonbury?! Ok, novel approach! Should be cool though - big question, will you be donning your wellies and braving the mud??
