Fundraiser/Wedding Gift Thank You! - 2007/11/01 15:25
A big thanks to everyone who has contributed over the last six months to the fundraiser in honor of David and Jane's upcoming wedding.
We raised US$3,700 for Doctors Without Borders!
(As of today's exchange rate, that's

EUR2,565,
AUS$3,984,
GBP1,777,
NZ$4,804)
From what I can figure out on the web page, in David and Jane's honor, we have purchased:
- One month's worth of emergency medical supplies for 15,000 people!
- A medical kit containing basic drugs, supplies, equipment, and dressings to treat 1,500 patients for three months
- Infection-fighting antibiotics to treat nearly 80 wounded children
Hooray for us!
A few of us started plotting this in January. Francy, lttldevl, pavane, k9_db, Becky, tammc72, s_aurius, reona32 were just a few of the squirrels who tried to pull something together for this. David really likes this organization and prefers you donate to them, rather than sending him actual gifts.
Granted, we didn't do a very good job of keeping it quiet as David and Jane found out about it soon enough. They were very sweet and tried not to let us know that they knew, but they have expressed their thanks, all the same.
